news is politics, politics is banned, news isn't, so ???.
If like 100 people from this board all went to CE at once to discuss politics I wonder if that would be allowed or if it would constitute board invasion.Well the highest level admin on the site told people to go there, so I think you'd have a case.
What about a Secret Board? Is someone really going to enforce this rule on a random Atari 7800 Board? If you let in/notify the wrong person, they'll start marking posts and alert the mods
Historically (all 3 days of it), political topics outside of CE are deleted for off topic. Political posts inside topics are deleted for Disruptive or Other with an explanation of the new rule about politics. As the rule is new, there's isn't really a dedicated category for it at this time.To be clear, it isn't that the rule is new, its "the rule was enacted without abruptly and without any thought".
mean it still runs the issue that the news is politics, politics is banned, news isn't, so ???.the answer was basically "news was allowed but dont venture into politics" but it mostly circles back to "news is not allowed" since you pretty much cant discuss it in the slightest.
like this isn't even a hypothetical with something as basic as poll of the day - internet privacy is highly political, we had a poll on it in January earlier this year, and it's blatantly because of the Google court case with a 5 billion dollar settlement.
it took the news then asked a political question - internet privacy - with multiple different answers.
there's no guideline or explanation whatsoever on how news can be covered really. intentionally broad sure but still really dumb at best, an asshole move at worst.
Do we have 100 people here who even play minecraft on a regular basis?
These rules are new to the moderation team just as they are to everyone else. Which means moderations are not going to be perfect at first. Disputing them, is important because it gets the moderation in front of more moderator eyes to catch where mistakes were made so we can collectively be better at enforcing the rules which, will help everyone have a better idea of what it allowed. Because I agree, right now it feels a bit chaotic.
We have asked that clearer guidelines be published, both for userbase reference as well as ours. I don't know when that's coming. I tried to provide a generalized guideline in a previous topic which basically amounted to don't objectify individuals. I think there is a level of moderator discretion that will come into play, and I wouldn't expect a detailed breakdown of each and every possible infraction. It will be a learning curve for us all and direction has been given to provide some leniency as this is navigated.
So like the policy only bans political topics but not posts about politicsIf the mods aren't sure what's going on I'm just going to point out that as far as I know this is still true...
If the mods aren't sure what's going on I'm just going to point out that as far as I know this is still true...It's not. Posts about politics have been deleted in topics that have been left alone.
I mean they probably meant to ban all types of political discussion regardless but they still have to actually communicate that before it makes sense to enforce it.
B8 can be topical if that's what it takes to survive
hard to be topical without a contest in the last 5 or whatever years!
Just means Fandom will have to start running contests
hard to be topical without a contest in the last 5 or whatever years!I believe in us
When did the URL change? Was it under CNet?
I notice the site still runs political ads. That's gonna be cute when election season heats upNo politics unless you pay Fandom.
Im tempted to just make a topic there called B8 =Politics Topic and then Ill just block any regular CE user who shows upThis is, allegedly, allowed according to one mod.
And to that I counter:
fuck fandom
I'm not going to CE

Yeah likeit is, however, also a very funny solution
Blocking literally every non-B8er might work but what an absurd fucking solution when, again, we HAD ONE POLITICS TOPIC
DToast actually logged back in after almost 48 hours gone. His internet lines might have been frozen for a while. Who knows what their infrastructure is like over in the extreme cold that is Minnesota.
And to that I counter:
fuck fandom
I'm not going to CE
