yes, time to close the account and leave this site. I know GameFAQs died a while ago when it started getting bought and sold every few days and when SBAllen left, it was the end for contests, the only reason I stuck around. oh well.

Predicting that Fandom shuts down the fourms altogether because they want to turn this site into wikia #9824. I'm sure they'll list a lack of activity as a main reason.

yet all azuarc of all sorts are more or less capricious and unreliable - they live in the varying outer weather, and they inhale its fickleness

Yeah, purgatory doesn't (or didn't AFAIK) result in you losing LUE access. Like, I'm sure an admin could specifically take it from you if they had to but I think as long as you weren't banned you kept it.

I've never really ventured too far from Board 8 in the last 20 years, but is GameFAQS even that bad by Internet standards in regards to inappropriate speech? I mean, even at its height 15 years ago, the stereotype was that it was full of stupid"how is babby formed?" level conversations, not 4chan level bigotry.

Discord is still different. Like you will lose conversations that you weren't present for. Forums still have that sense of preservation and long-term readback that live chats do not have.

There's free forum software out there (or paid I guess). Someone could make Board 8 into its own forum (and Discord would be the lifeboat to keep everyone about it and help the migration).

The discoverability would be awful and many people here would miss the memo and never know about it, and it would probably not even really catch on with many of the people who do know about it... but it's an option!
