CONTINUING FROM MY BLOODBORNE TOPIC

I absolutely loved Demons Souls and Dark Souls 1 back in the day, but when 2 came out a lot of people were hating on it, so i never got around to it

Elden Ring and Bloodborne are 10/10 some of my favorite games of all time so im hype. Im playing my Ps4 copy of Scholar of the First Sin on my Ps5, and i plan on doing all the DLC. I hear the DLC has one of the best dungeons

Anything i need to know? Tips tricks missables glitches exploits? Does platinum trophy suck to get?

DS2 is probably a lot cooler today than it has been just because of all the very evident ways it influenced Elden Ring through stuff that was totally ignored by other FromSoft games up until then. Feels more like a legit - if weird and unique - entry now than the red-headed stepchild it was around the DS3/Bloodborne era. All of that said, I only played it once so I'll be tagging but don't have any useful tips myself!

I don't know if they changed anything, but Covenant of Champions (basically the first covenant you run across 15 mins in) does not have a great description.

It turns the game into hard mode and does stuff like buff enemy health, resistances, dmg done, etc.

I suggest not joining it.

Best souls with the best hub music

Ds2 is the only souls I've gotten the plat for so i don't think it's that bad.

Lol wtf is going on in this game

Torch lighting mechanics?

Total collected souls = the tier I rank in when summoning my friend?

ADP = i-frames for rolling + estus flask speed?

Also yay you cant walk and drink, gotta just stand there

Also yay my weapon dings against the walls when im fighting

Also yay I attacked a treasure chest, confirmed its safe, opened it, and a bunch of arrows trapped me in a three hit combo and killed me anyway

WHEW

I CAN TELL THIS IS GONNA BE ONE HELLUVA RIDE

I just killed The Last Giant and saved and quit for now. Thinking Str/Int build?

ADP is crucial, which stinks, since there's no visual indicator on how many iframes you have, at least that I can tell. I always just Google the softcap and stop there.

I never got very far in SotFS, since they mess with enemy placement in ways I despise, but I imagine it's better without the original as context. Base game is pretty alright, but the DLC is some of the best Souls content there is.

Yeah i think that base game has more interesting enemy placements, especially in one area, but i wish more of the souls games released v1.1's like that just for a change of pace within the environments that you are already familiar with

I know exactly which area you mean and it STILL sucks in Scholar with a build best equipped to handle it. Shame, because I love how the area LOOKS.

It feels weird getting back into the habit of shielding after playing Bloodborne

The Pursuer down I got on the ballista and killed him in one shot lmao i didnt even know that would work

Then i make it to the Lost Bastille and open a random chest and ANOTHER PURSUER SPAWNS BEHIND ME AND KILLS ME

lol i wasnt planning to, but the spear guys kept overwhelming me, and i learned pretty quick shield is actually viable. Especially in a game littered with cramped hallways. Also i learned you can safely shield all of pursuers attacks, so its even good for bosses

Ruin Sentinels was hard

The run to them has like 500 dudes, but if you do it PERFECT you can barely make it to the boss room without getting hit. Ah yes classic dark souls

In the middle of the fight my wife came home from work but was locked out of the house, and banging on the door, and I was sitting there fighting two of them at once with 0 flasks left like HOLD ON I CANT PAUSE

Barely scraped by on that boss whew

Then turned around and fought Dragonrider and beat him first try lol

This was my next boss actually, and as soon as I saw two rooms with oil dripping out the walls, I was like... oh yeah ulti mentioned this. But man carrying the torch is some ass lol. Takes up a whole weapon slot, gotta carry it through water and cant roll or get knocked down, and before I could light the second torch, mine died and so I had to come back way later to fight Lost Sinner lol. Got her eventually tho

Right now I'm exploring No Mans Wharf and Huntsmans Copse. Gonna take off work and play all day tomorrow

So when does the final boss appear? Will it be obvious? Id like to stop right before them and go finish everything else first

And can i access the DLC area early like Bloodborne? And should i go there early?

There are 3 separate dlc's that will all have some kind of special item that transports you to the new area. I don't really remember the processes for getting to them though.

Final boss should be very obvious, especially if you have played ds1.

So in the huntsmans copse i did the entire forest area, skeleton caves, and boss in the same run. Killed the three main skeleton lords, but then my weapon broke, and i was out of magic, so i had to navigate a bunch of menus while running from 500 dudes lmao

Just panicking and going through every weapon in my inventory with all of them constantly saying YOU DONT HAVE THE STATS FOR THIS

I was able to switch to another axe and finish the fight though. Skeleton lords done on first try. Damn im good at these games

One thing i do like about DS2 is when youre navigating menus, theyll move to the left side and you can still see your character running around on the right side. That shit saved my life

Whew the poison area was hell. Poison everywhere on the ground, poison in jars all over the place, fire witches who can one shot you from across the level, big fat dudes with projectiles that can one shot you across the level, big fat dudes that can one shot you with a war hammer

I eventually learned to make the big fat dudes run into the jars and poison themselves. Pretty cool. Anddd Covetous Demon down first try

if you (Earthen peak spoilers) burn the windmill in the tower, you can drain the poison from earthen peak, which I find basically necessary for the boss

I found the boss with all the poison on the floor and i immediately died and was like huh this must be the one

Burned the windmill down but taking a break before i go for a rematch

also lol at this not even being THE poison place ;-;
