What do ya'll compare Pizza Tower to? It looks like a Wario platformer to me which doesn't sell me on it alone, plus I watched part of a speedrun which I recognize is not an adequate way to judge a new game but I wasn't sold on it then either. That said, I have a friend who swears it's my kind of game and that it's doing other good stuff to the point of being in game of the generation-arguments.

No spoilers please, but am I missing what the game is actually like?

It's more like a Sonic game than a Wario platformer. The physics feel a lot better here though, especially since there's no conventional death in the regular levels. I like it more than any of the 2D Sonic games.

I don't know what your kind of game is, but it sounds like you have a good idea of what it's like. It's a 90s(ish) styled platformer (taking a lot from Wario Land 4 (2001)) with an even more 90s inspired art style. To me the speedrun would have sold me on the game on its own if I wasn't already following it, so if that didn't grab you then I'm not sure if a casual playthrough will either. Maybe your friend is wrong. Though I do agree that it's the best game of its type in probably over a decade.

I don't know what your kind of game is

Currently playing Hades but am mainly a platformer-fan. Recently was speedrunning Super Meat Boy. Historically not crazy about Wario platformers (Ware >> Land), but I have soft spots for Sonic 2/3/&K/Mania since Mac named that series earlier.

Appreciate the feedback! I'll probably check it out soon at this point since it's got a Steam sale and new DLC in case I like it.

The Sonic comparisons are legit because this game is more focused on speed (building it and maintaining it) than any Wario game (primarily focused on puzzling and exploration). But I would say that this game gives you more control over your character than any Sonic game does.
