Would have preferred Frog out of the final four but Yoshi is a great winner

Aeris winning would have been kinda bleh so I'm glad we avoided that, although yet another 2nd place finish is brutal for her fans

The worst part is that Aerith didn't even perform better against Yoshi than Cloud and Tifa did. Yoshi was wiping out everyone!

Id have preferred Squall winning the whole thing and the final was two characters I dont really care about unfortunately. Frog, Knuckles or Sonic making the final wouldve been cool too, but Yoshi killed two of them.

I love Yoshi, but him winning as the best character of an entire decade of gaming makes it feel like it was a relatively poor decade in terms of characterization. I love a cute lil dino, but he's just not all that interesting as an actual character. Guess once we consider mass appeal/likability and overall exposure into the equation, it feels more correct.

After looking at the bracket again, Yoshi is probably the 8th best in it, so that's better than I was giving credit for. He's an icon of platformers and puzzle games. It's funny that both decades were won by the lizards closest to Mario.
