Do you ever use Shift, Ctrl, or Alt on the right side of the keyboard?

I'm super curious what the people who say they touch type but don't use the home row are doing. How are you positioning your hands when you start typing? The natural thing to do is to just glide your index fingers to the raised parts of the F and J keys, which would place you on the home row - if you don't do that, what's your anchor to actually start typing correctly without looking?

I have no anchor, I just type on pure muscle memory. I position my hands based on what I'm about to type, I guess. It's all very instinctual and hard to explain. Depending on the word and what letter comes before and after I use different fingers to hit each key and sometimes even a different hand.

For example, I just realized that i type the first "T" in "that" with my left hand and the second "T" with my right hand
