I am 1.5 seasons through and its beginning to get a bit extravagant. I like it so far and its highly addicting. Just not sure I want to watch five full seasons.

It gets really, really bad and stupid.

I think season 1 is the best, obviously. Season 2 gets a little unfocused and silly. Season 3 feels like overall it might be better than 2, but the writer's strike back then rushed everything. Season 4 is absolute shit though and completely goes off the rails. It legitimately makes me upset.

Season 5 is a reboot-continuation and it was... pretty alright. Nothing particularly special, but I enjoyed it mostly.

I watched the first 2 seasons when they came out and stopped. Randomly watched an episode in season 4 and got halfway through it before realizing i was watching the same show, it also was pretty bad.

Listen season 4 is ridiculous but I rewatched it a couple of years back and it still has its moments! And the characters are still great and I think it holds up better on a binge watch than the week-to-week people like me originally went through. I still recommend watching everything.

Season 3 definitely the weakest though so yeah, no harm in ending at season 2 I guess... but I also really liked "The Final Break" (2parter addendum ending to season 4) so would recommend watching that still if you skip the last two seasons though you'll obviously be missing a lot of context (including spoiling end of the actual 4th season)

I will grant this series one thing, and it's that I will never be able to forget the jingle from it before what I choose to remember before each commercial break. It really had some great music.

IMO it's worth it. Enjoyable all the way through even if it can get pretty stupid. Though I never saw season 5 and I'm kinda surprised to hear that they made one that many years later.

Honestly it's a bit surreal how bad it gets. Not even in a purely lazy way. They just make some baffling decisions on the direction the show goes.

Season 4 has a part where I just had to pause it because it broke me.

When Michael's wife is doing a southern accent and trying to trick someone on a mission for the freaking government, it just broke me and something snapped and I just went "What am I even watching anymore because this isn't even the same show." The scene wasn't any more egregious than anything else, but I'll never forget just the sense of confusion I had that stemmed from that one moment that made me stop to evaluate the entire show. And then they made Bellick a good guy hero with a noble death in it and I was so bewildered by it.

my recollection is season 4 goes off the rails extra hard with dumb twists and conspiracies going on and it just feels silly

PB is one of the only shows I made a point to watch every week...until some time during season 4. Season 3 is definitely worth watching but I wouldn't waste my time with the rest
