For consoles.
Bells, bells, bells!
I guess the Hori left dpad joycon for Switch
I used the fightpads on the XBox 360 for a few years so I guess those since I usually went first party
No problem!

probably a Rock Band 1 instrument
Pokken Tournament controller for Switch? It was the only thing I used for Mario Maker 2.

With what? ROT-13? -CJayC
Probably a Rock Band microphone, or maybe a guitar hero guitar?

Has to be one of the following two:

I had a bunch of these hideous things as a kid. They were pretty comfortable to actually use, though.

Also had some of these pieces of shit. Moral of the story here was that I should have shelled out for real GCN controllers.
Congrats to BKSheikah , who knows more about years than anyone else.
Yeah probably the guitar that came with Guitar Hero III for the Wii.

As for a standard controller, probably a Logitec wireless controller for PS2.

Probably my turbo controller for SNES. I used it interchangeably with the regular controllers even though I rarely used the turbo feature. It actually lasted a long time, too, unlike other 3rd party controllers that I can remember. I think it was still working when the console itself bricked.
Hori Fighting Commander that works with both PS3 and PS4

I dunno actually. I had an EA N64 controller that I used for a while but I generally use official stuff even on PC.

If we aren't counting a rock band 2 guitar, then it was just some crappy gamecube controller that i bought because i was poor
rip imgcake
probably a Guitar Hero controller

for a regular answer, that cursed MadCatz Gamecube controller I reckon. That's what turned me off from 3rd party controllers, and now I try to only use official stuff
MZero , to the extreme
I never saw azuarc coming, but he won the Guru!
Still have a PS3 fightstick I've been hauling around from gen to gen.
those shitty PS2 controllers that were partially see-through

I had some whatever 3rd party gamecube controllers with turbo buttons but they both broke so

other than that I can only think of rock band 2 controllers, everything else I think is a first-part controller (counting Steam controllers for Steam, and Xbox controllers even for PC use)

Been a bad girl, I know I am. And I'm so hot, I need a fan. I don't want a boy, I need a man.
I guess a PS3/4 controller hooked up to PC. Thats as far from first party I have ever strayed.

Rock Band Wii guitar if it counts

I have a Hori GameCube-style Switch controller I quite like, but I usually just end up using the Pro Controller instead anyway

Every MadCatz controller I've used was awful and I swore them off; once had a Blockhead GC controller that was somehow even worse

On PC I use a Logitech F310 and it's my favorite controller, but it's not "console"

I wasn't thinking about game specific controllers at first, but I guess that'd be my Beatmania IIDX controller. What I came up with first is the knock off 360 controller I bought for my PC a few months ago that really works and feels (minus some weight) like the real thing.

Probably an original Xbox controller, my younger brother broke a bunch of those and I recall having many third party ones for it.
Guinness Book of World Records is the name of the diary that belongs to azuarc , the winner of the Game of the Decade II guru contest.
If Guitar Hero peripherals count, than the Xbox 360 Guitar Hero 3 guitar.

If not, I was using some generic Gamestop-brand 360 controller on my computer for a while until I finally replaced it with another generic controller.

It might be worth noting here that I also don't use a mouse; I use a trackball. I've used a Logitech Trackman for over 20 years now. I still remember when mice weren't the default point-and-click for computers and they didn't usually have scroll wheels...which is important, because my trackball doesn't -- there's no reasonable place for one.
Only the exceptions can be exceptional.

This is quite a username I have here.
i had some matcatz wireless ps2 controllers for a while since local auction sites weren't a thing and they weren't selling actual ps2 controllers for a while. they weren't very good but i remember them well. i think i had an off-brand wiimote or two in the past as well, back before all wiimotes around here (bootlegs included) saw dramatic price hikes (they went from about $25nzd to 70+ ugh)

another possible contender is the ps3 controller i got with the second hand ps3 i bought about... 4 years ago. it was called a Double Shock III lmao. unfortunately i didn't get as much use out of it as i'd have liked since i accidentally dropped said ps3 while packing a year or two ago.
The InterAct SG ProPad for Genesis.
Bear Bro
The Empire of Silence
there was a genesis controller with XYZ. not sure if it was first- or third-party.

and some gamecube controller.
yet all azuarc of all sorts are more or less capricious and unreliable - they live in the varying outer weather, and they inhale its fickleness
I had these Genesis 6-buttons that were really good. I liked them better than the official pads, even.

I also had this N64 pad that I got early on, which was kinda trash but I liked the dpad better and the C buttons were less different than A&B so I liked it better for Killer Instinct. Plus it ended up being incompatible with the Rumble Pak when that came out so Interact gave everyone who sent in a barcode a free "Tremor Pak" which was their version that worked with it.

And of course I have a couple Hitboxes that I use for fighting games, one that I bought and another I put together myself from loose parts and an empty case.

that's the genesis pad i had!

guitar hero controller
does anyone even read this
Excluding rhythm games, I'd have to vote for the Hori Split Pad Pro. It's been the savior of the Switch handheld mode. Most other 3rd party controllers I had over the years were junk that I only bought to give to friends that didn't have their own controllers to bring for multiplayer get-togethers.

I'm actually surprised no one else has mentioned the Split Pad yet, because I know people have talked about it here before. It's pretty much my favorite third party controller.
