It's plausible (though I really do think they settled down after Hope Side), but I refuse to believe that Makoto and Sayaka weren't all over each other prior to the memory wipe.

Yeah, I've seen the DR3 anime, sadly. It's just that I don't see many people put Aoi with Makoto, with Sayaka and Kyoko being popular pre-game and post-game ships, and then there's even a following for Makoto X Mukuro. I guess Aoi X Sakura being a more popular ship just means the Makoto X Aoi ship doesn't get a lot of play.

Individual sprite (as in not which characters have the best sprites, but just which sprites are the best).

Having some trouble getting the sprites on here. Just gonna test this out with one here, then do the rest if it works.

When I was narrowing down my favorite sprites, my initial try ended up with exactly 20, so I'm just gonna do them all.

#5. Monokid - Look I know you have a boner 24/7, but I don't need to know about it anymore. So glad he was the first to go.
#4. Monophanie - Her entire gimmick was having incestual relationships with the rest of the kubs. And throwing up, which is still just enough to put her ahead of Monokid.
#3. Monosuke - He's basically just a stereotypical headstrong Japanese businessman. But in Monokub rankings, that's still enough for #3.
#2. Monotaro - One of my favorite voice jobs in the game. His forgetfulness was pretty funny. But he's still annoying.
#1. Monodam - The only fun Monokub, and he's soooo good. Every time he's actually talking, it's absolute gold. I love his upheaval of Monokuma. I wish more came from it.

Even after having slept, I don't really have much for future Ultimates I'd want to see. I love to golf, so I guess I'd like an Ultimate Golfer to go with Ryoma's Ultimate Tennis Pro, but really, I'm good just going with whatever they decide to use.

Favorite Areas to Explore:
Nothing really stands out to me as a place I like to explore in-game more than anywhere else. Like, I don't enjoy walking through the V3 casino area any more or less than the fourth floor of the academy. The third floor and the area around the hangar are both unique enough, but again, I don't have any strong feelings one way or the other about either of them regardless. So I guess I'm just gonna break this up by game, because that I DO feel strongly about.

#3. Hope's Peak Academy - HPA is boring. I don't like the controls of DR1, and there's nothing exciting to see. It's all very same-y.

#2. Jabberwock Island - I love that they just did away with all the first-person trash and just let us zip and zoom everywhere we needed to go. All the different islands were super unique, and lots of surprises were abound. However, as a result of the third-person stuff, it didn't really immerse the player in the surroundings, leaving you feel a bit disjointed.

#1. Academy for Gifted Juveniles - They really got the aesthetic down for the third game. The first-person control was tightened up to feel better, and everything is so luscious and pleasing to look at. It was still a bit tedious to find new areas to open up after every chapter, but at least as part of doing so, you got to find all the new Ultimate Labs. I always found myself trying to guess whose lab I was about to open up whenever I found a new door, and I loved it.

On the note of future Ultimates, I wouldn't mind having a SHSL/Ultimate Pro Wrestler in a visual novel that has actual screen time.

Worst characters:
#10. Angie - If this list was more geared toward characters I hate, Angie would be right at the top. But I can't deny that she's a fucking fantastic character to hate, and steers one of the most fun plot directions in the entire series.

#9. Kyosuke Munakata - Now that I'm talking about DR3 characters besides Great Gozu, I run into a bit of a problem. I've never really discussed these characters with the fandom, so I don't know which name everyone knows them by. Like, I'm pretty sure they call this guy Munakata and the chairman Tengan all the time (last names), whereas the housekeeper is always called Chisa (first name). So I'm just gonna put both names in the rankings to make sure you all know who I'm referring to.

Anyway, a lot of the Future Arc of DR3's awfulness comes directly from Munakata. His motivations are all over the fucking place, and just one minute of self-reflection on his part is all that's needed to stop most of what happens.

#8. Yasuhiro - He's dumb. He ruins like 3 of the trials in DR1 with his dumb. Stop being so dumb.

#7. Mikan - I hate Mikan in DR2 so much. If we were only including games, Mikan would be like 4 spots higher on this list, but she was actually a lot of fun in the Despair Arc, so she gets dropped down a bit here.

#6. Toko - The only good thing to come out of Toko (not including Genocide Jack, mind you) in the entire series is her dream sequence in DR3 where she and Byakuya are a couple. Pretty sure that's the high point for her character.

#5. Akane - speaking of being dumb, holy shit Akane. Fucking wake up auugh. That scene in DR2 where Fuyuhiko is trying to have a huge heart-to-heart with her in the funhouse about being able to apologize to Nekomaru completely ruined her character for me to the point of being entirely irredeemable.

#4. Juzo Sakakura - The only solution to problems I've ever known is punching things. Also I'm going to let the world end because I just wouldn't be able to take it if the world knew I was gay. What a frustrating character to watch.

#3. Tsumugi - She has nothing of worth to say for the first 5 chapters in DRV3. She brings NOTHING to the table. Every time she opens her mouth is a complete waste of time. She is also not that much fun to bring down in Chapter 6, so up to the top you go.

#2. Ruruka Gekkogahara - Remember when the future arc introduced some good new characters to the franchise? Yeah me neither.

#1. Hiyoko - God I fucking hate spoiled little brat trope characters. Especially ones that are given a redemption arc when THE CHARACTER IS DOING NOTHING WORTH BEING REDEEMED FOR. She remains a snotty little bitch the entire time, but the cast is just like "well, she's trying, I guess". No. She's not. Don't let her get away with that shit, you fucking morons. She is an absolutely terrible character and despite being another terrible character herself, Mikan at least deserves some credit for ridding us of the worst character in the series once and for all.

That settings ranking is pretty spot on though I might consider having Jabberwock as my top one. The open-air, beach setting was refreshing.

And that's sort of the problem with DR2. I don't think "refreshing" is a term you want associated with a setting in a game where high schoolers are murdering each other.

Just noticed something. Can I say real quick how big a miracle it is that Tenko didn't make that worst characters list? Case 1 and 2 Tenko is soooooooooo bad, but Case 3 Tenko is actually pretty good. Take notes, Hiyoko, that's how you redeem a near-irredeemable character the right way.

I still dislike Tenko a fair bit but uhh...I can see why you wouldn't put her in the top 10 list.

I like Hiyoko because she's unlikable. It's important to have some characters like that, and she fills that role well. I'd like to see more jerk characters, honestly. There's way too many "this character only committed murder because of this tragic situation" type scenarios.

Any points Mikan gets (and I don't even hate her) are erased because she also kills the best character.

Also just realized your shit tier list doesn't have Hifumi???

Hifumi has some good moments. Also, I can't even really explain why I do, but I love his whole deep voice schtick. It's silly.

Most hype moments

Hype moments:
A decent number of these are gonna kinda coincide with my plot twist ranking because they sorta go hand in hand, but I'm going to treat this one more as "when this particular line comes across and the realization of what that implies hits you", as opposed to general plot devices. That might not be exactly what you're asking for, but I feel like this would make a great list, so I'm doing it anyway!

#10. "If you swear your fealty to us, we will reward you with half of the entire world!"
The first half of case 1-6 is spent shedding light on the mastermind and how they manipulated the prior trial to get rid of nuisances that were conspiring to take her down. When she finally realizes there's no getting out of this, she pops on out from her hidey hole and... propositions the cast to join her with some of her home cooking. This was our first glimpse of the completely insane legend herself, Junko Enoshima.

#9. "Don't press that! This is all Junko's trap!"
The first time through case 2-6, I can't imagine any player was just dying to press that Graduate button, mashing Don't Press Anything and Repeat over and over in the hopes that the dialogue would change. When we finally gave up, we were rewarded with a last-second save from the main man himself, as Makoto slices through the screen to save the day.

#8. "I admit that there wasn't an accomplice. In actuality, the truth is even more horrifying."
I've noted several times in this topic why I hold 2-5 in the absolute highest regard, but one thing it actually doesn't do well is just drop a bomb on the player. It drags out the realization that Nagito didn't commit suicide over a good 30 minutes, so there's not really one good line to point to as a "hype moment", but I just couldn't get out of this without putting something from 2-5 in my list.

#7. "The killer was wearing the same blue tracksuit as him? Mine is black!"
The first DR1 moment that really hits you as "oh fuck, you're the killer". One of only about 3 times that the truth flashback has ever felt good to use in the entire series, and it's such a great moment. Hell of a bluff, Kyoko.

#6. "Oh, but Gonta hold chopsticks with this hand."
I don't think my heart has ever sank so low when playing any video game than hearing the music stop so Gonta could put the final nail in his own coffin with a single, depressing line. I personally knew it was Gonta as soon as Kokichi brought up the possibility, but it wasn't until this very moment that truly solidified it for me, and it happened in the most heartbreaking way possible.

#5. "The ultimates are working together to combat the despair of their friend's death!"
Not much to say about this part, because everyone remembers the laugh. Nothing running through anyone's mind as they got to this part other than "oh fuck this guy's nuts".

#4. "It's fictional? It's all fictional?!"
Kinda like moment #8 in that it's a somewhat slow burn to get to the hype built in this moment, but this was the line that started it all. I just sat there, jaw agape as Byakuya, Kyoko, and all the others began to explain to me that everything I knew was a complete fabrication and that I was just part of "a fictional world called Danganronpa".

#3. "Hey, are you listening? Nagito, I'm talking to you!"
WHAT THE FUCK I'M PLAYING AS NAGITO

#2. "No doubt about it."
It's not really a good line to remember the moment by, but it's ingrained into my brain because Kaede says this as you pick herself as the culprit and the pink splotches appear to signify you made the right choice. All of a sudden, you're forced to question where the fuck the game is going with this, and how they could possibly explain how this happens. I will never forget the cleverness of "I shoved everything I was holding into my backpack" and "I dropped everything I was holding and an after Shuichi" to keep things ambiguous.

#1. "I'll never let anyone choose again!"
Super Saiyan Hajime is the hypest, most anime bullshit ever, and I couldn't stop myself from smiling a big dumb grin from the moment he showed up with red eyes and a glowing aura around him, all the way to the part where Sonia started asking how to activate the shutdown. Everything is so fucking cool about the whole thing. Destroying AI Junko with newly acquired OP abilities, like unlimited sharpness and focus mode, while she's screaming to turn off the game and shut the hell up feels so fucking good.
