From which side of your vertical roll do you hang the paper?

This poll is useless since right and left mean different things depending on the location of the roll. "forward" and "back" would be much more useful.

you need to make a new poll

i picked vertical because that's the closest thing, but mine is not even hanging, it's just sitting on the sink. right now it's facing left but i have no idea if i consistently leave it that way or not. before looking, i had thought it was facing right so probably not.

Sitting on the sink should have been a poll option in the PotD.

The question is obviously "toward or away" from the toilet, and the answer would be toward.

Does vertical imply it's hanging on something. When I go to a friend's house and it's vertical, it is literally just sitting on a shelf of some kind and you pick up the whole roll and tear what you need during the deed.

I think this is what they mean by vertical. I mean the cardboard roll is vertical in this instance while it is horizontal on a standard holder.

I keep mine vertical on the sink as I have a cat that would unravel the roll otherwise.

at my mom's place she has like some small vertical pole on the ground beside the toilet that can hold like 3 rolls atacked on top of each other through the pole

I think I've also seen a traditional hanging toilet paper hold that's angled leaning vertical, if not entirely vertical... in which case I guess there's no choice but to vote vertical

I feel so fucking vindicated by this poll

If I am sitting and the roll is to my left, it goes over. If the roll is to the right (there is a half bath in the house like this), it goes under.

Why don't people just shut the bathroom door instead of using their pet as an excuse to hang the tp wrong?

I was assuming that vertical meant some kind of stand like a paper towel stand that some people use... Which I've never actually seen for toilet paper, but it must exist. And if a roll of toilet paper is put into/onto a fixture, then it's still on one side or the other.

I'm sure that people who just keep the roll loose sitting around don't put it down in any specific way, but that's not how I interpreted the poll option.

I've never understood TP hangers.

Why would you actively make it harder to use? Free standing TP is so much easier.

It lets you grab tp while using only one hand

Free rolls require 2 to do the same thing
You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

Yeah, but the orientation of the roll is relative. Left-hand side to the left of the toilet is the opposite of left-hand side on the right of the toilet

I'm not sure what you mean by this. There are 2 ways that you could put the roll on the stand: MfoxPMG

This would look the same no matter how you're looking at it. The only thing that could change is the terminology used to describe it, because left from the back would be right from the front and vice versa. But as long as a roll has 2 ends, there are 2 different ways that you could stand it. And that was my main point, that being vertical doesn't exclude you from this "debate".

What I'm saying is that left and right are not accurate at describing somethings position, since it's entirely relative to the viewer.

jBGio35

There are FOUR ways to mount the roll on a vertical stand. As you can see, "left" on the left side of the image is functionally identical to "right" on the right side. And of course all the lefts are rights are reversed based on your position to the toilet.

A far more useful designation is "toilet-side" or "wall-side" Right and left are not clearly defined
pepsi for tv-game
The position of the roll relative to the stand is the same, you're just talking about rotating it 180, which is irrelevant. You could hold the roll in place and rotate the stand, and it would still be the same. I wasn't talking about its relation to the viewer.

So clockwise or counterclockwise? That's unambiguous, but still pretty useless from a usage standpoint. Think about actually sitting on a toilet and pulling paper off the roll. Clockwise on a left-hand stand is going to feel different from clockwise on a right-hand one.

You could have two people voting for the same option in the poll for totally different reasons
