How many times can I die in Dark Souls (Playthrough)

If the trick is running towards the spot where I first angered him, and trying to dodge his giant ... arm? fist? claw? tentacle?
and then hitting it with my sword

Sif is also dead btw, probably should have tangled that one before Anor Londo but oh well
