This first match is hilarious - I really like Into the Light but DWDTG is too ridiculous (and nostalgic) to not vote for.
Second match is much more laid-back, but I think I prefer the instrumentation/style of Steam Garden.
Jaw is really not my thing, while the ending of SSS is hype enough that I feel good voting for it.

BOY LEMME TELL YOU WHAT! The Devil Went Down to Georgia is legit one of my favorite songs of all time, and the Guitar Hero version was a pretty legit cover. The other song is really bland in comparison.

Into the Light - I much prefer the original version of Georgia to this cover. It starts out well enough, but the solos are just way too long. ITL is Kokia at her loveliest. ^_^

Ignition - One of my favorite discoveries of the contest! Steam Gardens is really neat the first time you hear it in the game, but it gets old quick enough. Don't really think it needs to be in a contest like this. There are definitely SMO songs I like more.

SOLID STATE SQUAD - Jaw is just really boring. Goes nowhere the whole time. Look Pimpin at least has the courtesy to be interesting. SSS isn't great, but it doesn't have to be.

Into the Light - KOKIA ain't no Shikata, but she's still so freaking good. I thought I would have a bias against Guitar Hero cause I can't stand most versions of songs from it, but... this isn't actually... that bad? Like it's still definitely not my thing but I'd pick it over some other things I've heard in this contest so that's pretty big for me I think lol

Ignition - Absolutely love Hamauzu's more generic style, and this is probably the best one out there, edging out Twin Dimension Battle, The ether, and Hope Given "Dance of the Dog's Howl". Steam Gardens is good but I find it largely overrated, the low quality of half of the instruments is so fucking weird like why

SOLID STATE SQUAD - I mean I nom'd it so come on but yeah this is my fav IIDX song that I wasn't sure would get support so I didn't nominate it during the regular go-around. That ending on Another is one of the most fun things to play in the game, especially the new chart which is the first and only chart so far to have Hell Charge Notes and not be a complete pile of garbage. Jaw also is unfortunately one of my least favorite Anarchy Reigns songs. Whoops.

Quick vote before I go to bed. I fucking love Jaw (which is why I nominated it). Anarchy Reigns and MadWorld are how I realized that a gangly white boy from the suburbs actually likes hip-hop and rap. I figured most of B8 would turn their nose up at it but hell, it was worth a shot. In a radical departure from most rhythm game tracks, SSS is not horrible. It is merely mediocre. Well done, SSS. But you stand and you fall, as I hand you your Jaw.

The first match, I'm not very fond of either. I voted for the pleasant one. The second match, both were solid. I really wanted a bit more out of Steam Gardens as it sounded really promising at first, but it didn't quite deliver. The third match was no contest. I don't think Solid State Squad is anything special, but I hated Jaw. Sure, rap, fine, but it's not even good or interesting rap. Is bad.
Just killing time until the world ends.

Extraordinary day. And a hard one to rank too.

-First Match: I can't believe I voted for TDWDtG over such an emotional and well-performed song as Into the Light is. But man, that is such a really good rock song.

-Second Match: Ignition takes this easily, just because Steam Gardens is pretty weak.

-Third Match: "Wow... this is such a nice rap song (Jaw), and it also has a great video too!" But then: "Wow! An even better song with an even better video!" Awesome match.

First match is better than it has any right to be. Second is eh, Ignition is okay, Steam Gardens didn't need to be here. I probably wouldn't vote for SSS over many songs in the side bracket but Jaw is definitely one of them.

Not bothering with full writeups, but I want to say that I do actually rather like Devil Went Down to Georgia. Not a top tier song in the contest, but I'd probably take it over half or more of the field at least. Into the Light however is a top tier song in the contest.

Into the Light ~ I just don't like this version of Devil Went Down to Georgia as much as the official version...

Ignition ~ This one is pretty, but I like the Mario song, too, since it sounds like music from the Oceans movies. Either way, I'm happy.

SOLID STATE SQUAD ~ Definitely better than the other song >_>
