I think it's a combination of a bunch of things, but just as a comparison, women attempt suicide more than men, but men die from suicide far more than women, because men are more likely to use messier methods like a gun or jumping, while a woman is more likely to attempt with something like cutting or an overdose, far more likely to save their life.

The aggression and I guess... fearlessness maybe isn't the best word but I think you know what I'm going for... plays a lot into both of these statistics.

encouraged by society to be tough and violent if necessary and to not talk about mental issues. obviously, most men are never going to hit the point of mass shooting but yeah. if someone is emotionally disturbed and psychotic... it can happen.
