What should be done for Day 3?

Last time we decided that Super Mario Sunshine largely needed

Better camera
No Blue Coins
Better level design
Better voice acting or removal all together
Less glitches/wonky physics

Today's game is Final Fantasy VIII, the follow up to the widely popular FF7.

Personally I wanted to see some more development for party members. It really felt like they got pushed aside in Disc 2. Removing the orphanage backstory is probably the best way to make room for it too, because that all felt really random and out of place.

I'd also make the menus and junctions a little less tedious and confusing. I hated having to constantly rearrange things after switching up party members.

Take Squall (and maybe Quistis and Selphie) and put them in a completely different game.

Okay, Laguna is cool too. But he's not one of the mains.

The rest of the game besides the 4 characters I mentioned can go rot.

Replace the Junction system.

Replace the cast.

Make the plot be half Laguna.

Remove Triple Triad

Actually I think it better to just make another game.

But most important: Remove Zell!!!

Remove Squall
Remove Rinoa
Remove Orphange twist
Change enemy scaling
Make it more obvious how the fuck you farm for weapon upgrades
Remove the "you heartless son of a bitch" quote from Fisherman Horizon because fuck cats

I need to replay it again so I can list more stuff but actually fix 90% of this trash

Keep the "Man with the Machine Gun" track, the pretty good intro cutscene, that card that lets you disable random encounters..and that's all

Now here's a question for you: FF8 came out on steam before the 7 and 9 "graphical upgrade" versions, yet both of those have been released on PS4. Why wasn't 8?

I've been putting off giving it a replay and it being released on PS4 would just be great...

I would say this game would benefit from a completely different cast. At least take out quistis, the second worst character in ff.

Making the game about Laguna's crew would be great.

I've heard people suggest that Square has to work out the logistics of Chocobo World first, but who knows.

Remove Random Rule
Either remove Quistis or do more with her so she doesnt feel like shes sorta just there most of the time

Add a harder difficulty mode for when you've figured out the junction system but still want a reasonable challenge (e.g. encourage a variety of character builds, nerf Aura/limits)

Make characters who aren't Squall and Rinoa matter after Disc 2, and don't hide character development in obscure and/or time-sensitive sidequests

less 'traps' in the combat system:
-summoning GFs seems really, really good to new players
-drawing 100 of every new spell from a buel in the forest seems mandatory to new players

-some sort of system to disincentivize save scumming with early triple triad
You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

Also, I don't think you get to say you're "fixing a game" if you are destroying the integrity of the plot and characters and world the creators built. You can make suggestions on how to alter pacing, flow, dialogue, etc. But you are going past "fixing" if you just remove characters altogether.

Yeah, FFVIII has itself to blame for a lot of its misconceptions because the game tells you how to play one way when another way is much easier and better.

I'm with Scarlet, removing the main characters doesn't fix anything. Because there wouldn't be a plot, it's more of what about the Squall/Rinoa is bad and how do they need to be improved.
