Spiderman and Batman are both in the top ten, but I cut them because they both have so many different continuities.

so the real Top 10, according to the-numbers.com, is:

1. Marvel
2. Harry Potter
3. Star Wars
4. James Bond
5. LotR (would jump to 2nd if you included the Hobbit)
6. Fast & Furious
7. X-Men
8. Spiderman
9. Batman
10. Pirates of the Caribbean

prob lotr but none are clear frontrunners.
so based on that I would go:

Bond > Star Wars > Batman >>>>>> Spiderman >>>>>> Marvel > Harry Potter > LotR/Hobbit > X-Men > Pirates > Fast & Furious

This seems good though I might change it to LotR = MCU.
Well, for me, it's Star Wars. You can't really get me to make an argument for anything else here, even though that includes the prequels.

Aside from Star Wars I guess my favorite would be... Harry Potter? Lord of the Rings is better generally speaking but I don't enjoy it as much. MCU is a huge mixed bag for me as far as things I care about. I like James Bond films on occasion but they aren't really my thing. I don't care about any of the rest of these at all, aside from the first Pirates film which is good.
LotR
oh, to answer the topic question:

LotR > star wars > MCU > x-men > who cares

love the harry potter books, but the movies really aren't that great.

OK I'm probably way late on this but I've come to the conclusion that you have to be doing this on purpose now. No way in hell does someone omit stuff from polls so consistently for so long by accident

I'm not omitting anything by accident. I said specifically what I was omitting and why.

Pretty much. After that I really respect the Harry Potter series as all the movies are great to fantastic which can't really be said about the others which have some stinkers. Also, the Potter movies have a clear vision and tell a cohesive, satisfying story.

Come on.
I would say "well how many votes would Spiderman and Batman really get" but then I noticed the two that replaced them have a total of 3 votes so.
No problem!
This is a cute and pop genocide of love!
I would maybe vote for Batman

I voted Star Wars but I did not see LOTR as a poll option. That's the only franchise here that I'm all that big on.

You took off two poll options thinking it was the right thing to do. The action was not accidental but your belief that it was correct was the mistake. And honestly, it felt almost obligatory.
TLO has my dog for a month.
Anagram definitely tries to get people to complain about his poll choices on purpose.

It may have been accidental at first, but he realized he finally had a good gimmick and stuck with it.
Didn't realize how big LotR was on here. Only saw the first with family and everybody was bored to death
Yeah Anagram definitely became self-aware at some point and has suffered because of it.

I have left off poll options on purpose in the past, but this isn't one of them. I am of the opinion that Spiderman and Batman shouldn't count.

I mean, I think Anagram has a valid point here. I don't think the Raimi Spider-Man films should be lumped together with Amazing Spider-Man, nor should the Burton/Schumaker Batman series be put together with the Nolan films. The only flaw here is that same argument could be used against the James Bond series.

this one actually made me chuckle because it's SO anagram. an objective top 10 list already exists and instead of using that he just randomly curated the list himself and included options that he thought were worthy while excluding ones based on seemingly arbitrary criteria.

yeah, this is my problem with the exclusion.

my vote wouldn't change with the different poll options, though. sure, there's great batman movies, but if everything counts that means crap like batman & robin is also included. LotR still wins easily, even with the hobbit trilogy included.

For what I've seen probably this:

Marvel > X-Men > Harry Potter > Transformers >Star Wars > Pirates > LotR

Only seen 1 Bond movie ages ago so I didn't count it. Haven't seen any Fast & Furious or Despicable Me. I only saw 4 of the Harry Potter movies, 2 of Transformers, chunks of Star Wars (think I only saw 1 and 2 in full) and only got through 1 LotR movie that I already mentioned. I'm sure I have the most garbage ranking to most people here

yeah.

i could forgive stuff like "transformers > star wars" if you've only seen transformers 1 and AotC or something, but ranking LotR last when you've seen fellowship (the best movie in the series) is, uh, a thing.
Geothermal terpsichorean ejectamenta
yeah swordz9 has a pretty bad ranking but most of these series are pretty mediocre so its not like I am gonna get mad online over it (except putting transformers above most anything irritates me a bit)
I have only heard LotR gets better from everybody who liked it. People tell me all the time the second and third movies are way better than the first. The first put two of my family members to sleep and when they woke up I told them they didn't miss anything. I'm not sure how I stayed awake during it. As for Star Wars I'm confident I only saw all of Phantom Menace and the one after it (Clone Wars? Probably got the title wrong, but it definitely has Clones in it somewhere) and they weren't exactly very good movies.

and favorite movie for each, in order of favorite franchise:

1. Goldeneye
2. The Force Awakens
3. Dark Knight
4. Spiderman (2001)
5. Guardians of the Galaxy
6. Sorcerer's Stone
7. Return of the King

8-10 i don't care enough about. maybe First Class for X-Men.

i'm not a gollum fan (unpopular opinion) so i appreciate that he's almost not in FotR. if you love gollum you'll probably like TTT and RotK better.

as someone who's not a huge fan, I think it is worth finishing LotR to get to Return of the King. Also 4-7 of Star Wars are absolutely worth watching. 2 is the worst so might as well finish it out tbh.

I love Gollum and FotR is still my favorite. Though if FotR was "putting you to sleep" you'd probably like the second or third movies much more cause there's a lot more ACTION~ in em (though Hobbit would make you kill yourself)

This is a cute and pop genocide of love!
The Fast and the Furious (Fast 5)
X-Men (Logan)
Marvel Cinematic Universe (Winter Soldier, maybe?)
Star Wars (The Force Awakens)
James Bond (Casino Royale)
Despicable Me (Despicable Me)

don't enjoy (or in some cases, haven't watched) any movies in the other franchises.
