My friend is considering buying a system

These are the three he is considering. He already has a PS4.

Switch

Wii U is dead but yet IIRC not that much cheaper than the Switch.

SNES Classic is a great system and I love it, but it's not something I'd consider to be comparable to other systems since you only have what's included with no way to get anything else legitimately.

Does your friend have a Wii?

No

I like the SNES Classic, but if he's looking for another system then he's really limiting himself going with that. Tell him to get the Switch.

Then I say get a Wii U. The back library of Wii and Wii U is full of all kinds of neat games that aren't available anywhere else, and most of them can be had for pretty cheap these days. Seems like the best "secondary system" option to go with a PS4.

Just make sure he knows the online store for the original Wii is shutting down in a few months so he should get everything he wants from there right away.
