The second answer is...

This Tricky Math Question is so bizarre and difficult that only 1 in 1000 people can actually figure out this test as this asks users to "think outside the box" by working out 2 different but correct answers to a series of equations.

I will say right now that one of the answers is 40!!...

However, a second answer is also acceptable..but can you guess what it is? let's see if people can..

This is gonna be another variation of the "(2) bananas is this number, now there's 1 banana in the last pic, and there's no right answer" thing. Not a single doubt in my mind.

19.

The other answers are just wrong .

My daughter says 96 though, and she's pretty smart so I'll go with that.
Growing up, I wish some teacher told me "You probably won't ever need this, but if you don't learn it, you might miss out on something really cool."
the answer is 19

previous bad answers don't change the simple math problem

Oh, it's even stupider. It's not base 10 or even base 6, so we're just straight up violating arithmetic now.
Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality.
This is really dumb.
Also no way does only 1 in 1000 get that question right unless the answer is 19, and the answer isn't even an option.

It's a possible solution that's consistent with the other answers, but I dunno if it's the one they're looking for.

It follows a dumb pattern just like 40 does.

I'm assuming its right because both answers are equally dumb in a similar fashion.

pretty much this, but the fact it's using +'s means this whole thing is basically completely invalid

I see a way to do 96
I don't see 40

It's not math but the pattern is easy 96

1 + 4 = 5
5 + 2 =+ 5 = 12
12 + 3 + 6 = 21
21 + 8 + 11 = 40

even that pattern is just yet another way that comes to 96 if you extrapolate properly

21 + 4 + 7 = 32
32 + 5 + 8 = 45
45 + 6 + 9 = 60
60 + 7 + 10 = 77
77 + 8 + 11 = 96

the 96 answer was pretty easy to logic out that is consistent with the established rules, just not the ones everyone is familiar with given the symbols.

I mean, I could type everything in a rotational cipher and being able to puzzle out a meaning from that wouldn't really mean anyone is smart, even if only a few out of a larger amount could, just that they would be able to do the pattern seeking thing that our brains are hardwired for.

The ambiguity permitting multiple answers (with varying degrees of cleverness) underscores the fundamental flaw with these sort of 'problems'. There might be a sanctioned official answer, but without more context, one might as well be playing Numberwang.
There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out

You're multiplying and then adding the first number to the total. 2 x 5 + 2, 8 x 11 + 8. Dumb.

If I can't assume that the + represents an addition symbol, why can I assume the numbers represent themselves? Maybe the answer is each digit is just arbitrary and nothing means anything.
