Does the tiebreaker need the comma to be excluded in order for it to count? Or is the comma needed?
The hardest matches to pick, in my opinion, were the ones where one year was filled with great games and the opposing year had one or more great systems (and at least good games as well).

-MS
Ho hum, only cares about US release dates in the write ups=I don't care...
1997 has a few more notable games I haven't seen mentioned yet.
Mega Man X4 and Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
Nice job DpObliVion for ranking 4 spots ahead of me and winning the BGE15 Guru Contest!
No mention of StarCraft in 1998.
This is a signature
Tough match-ups. Seems like a 0 bracket is highly possible though.
-Almost won a game from Ulti once.....almost.
I did a huge stats thing and ended up with 2001 vs. 2013 in the finals somehow

Feel free to suggest games we might have overlooked, we kinda built this in a hurry to meet our deadline.

You might want to go through this topic today and add in some games you overlooked, before you head off for the weekend. There's a good amount of suggestions that you can work with (not expecting all of them to be added).

Man, even after all the games mentioned for 2000, I feel like it would be wrong not to include some of these: Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber, Mario Tennis, Mario Party 2, Breath of Fire IV, Harvest Moon: Back To Nature,Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, Spyro: Year of the Dragon, The Legend of Dragoon, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, Valkyrie Profile and Vagrant Story.

I'm curious if the notable games list is going to be held to 5 or so games during the contest matches because it will hurt a year like this that has a lot of solid games.

My wife wanted to enter a prize eligible bracket as well but I see that share households or internet connections won't cut it.

If she made an account from her work and used that address, would that be considered gimping the system or is that fair game?
124 Gurus were better than me in BGE 2015 contest! But the best of all was DpObliVion! Congrats!

A huge offender that should definitely be on the board and would definitely have an influence:

2004 - Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

6th highest ratest GC game ever, above Metroid Prime and Wind Waker which both make headliner appearances in their years. You might argue "But Tales of Symphonia is already in 2004 and it's rated higher on the charts". OK, but consider the fact that it lost to TYD in 2015's Best. Game. Ever. competition (albeit by only ~4%). You might also say "OK, but we don't want to over-represent the Gamecube for that year". Then why is it OK that we have GTA: San Andreas and Metal Gear Solid 3 both on that year, 2 PS2 games?

Paper Mario: TYD should without a doubt be a game for 2004. But at this point, it's only a week before polls close, and adding it this late could really shake people's brackets up.

@SBAllen

This starts in a week. Can you give us the picsmith specs you need?

I'm going to guess that he's going to handle things himself for Round 1.

1990/2000 is scaring me with the potential for Perfect Dark/Diablo 2 being the 2000 headliners completely screwing the year over.

Honestly it is going to be hard for any collection of games to beat out iconic systems like the NES N64 GB PS. I mean these systems paved the way for these games to be made.

How much loyalty do you think most people will have to individual systems, though, at least in relation to their release dates? Especially since most classic titles don't come out around launch.
Yeah I really hope Allen puts Majora's Mask/Pokémon GS/FF IX in 2000's match pic

Honestly 1989 is the only year where I'd take a console's release (Game Boy) into consideration for the overall significance of the year. Every other year with console releases, even ones that I like, has enough of a games lineup to stand on its own.

This may be an unusual stance.

Tomorrow, it begins, and I don't even know what year I want to win.
2001 and 1998 are by far the two best years in gaming history

the n64 paved the way for ps xbox to be made gb is the only reason we have mobile games today.....the consoles are bigger than the games

No poll on the "Boards" page? Just on the home page?
Allen, would you please consider implementing a more static/list type picture format going forward? I believe the rotating pictures may cause information to be missed, and visitors may find it confusing while trying to vote.

I agree. It was annoying having to wait several seconds to view the rotating list, especially since I had to focus on four different pictures at once.
The rotating pictures do not work for some people, so it's important to provide voters with a list of notable games and systems when they hover over the picture as a fallback option.
