But why?https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/ list-of-companies-being-boycotted-in-november/ar-AA1PBYwv
I mean I work for myself and with my habits this is drop dead easy to accomplish so I'll likely be participating by happenstance, but there's no way this gains serious traction unfortunately.And here I was hoping that America was doing something against their oligarchs
And here I was hoping that America was doing something against their oligarchsThings arent bad enough yet, too many Americans still think theyre the capitalists, and too many others still think capitalism is a force of nature and their place in it is natural/deserved.
Things arent bad enough yet, too many Americans still think theyre the capitalists, and too many others still think capitalism is a force of nature and their place in it is natural/deserved.This. You mention oligarchy and some people might think Russia, most Americans will likely be googling "whatever the hell that is" and then get mad you dare assume billionaires aren't visionaries.
This. You mention oligarchy and some people might think Russia, most Americans will likely be googling "whatever the hell that is" and then get mad you dare assume billionaires aren't visionaries.Ah. Yes. Protect the billionaire class. I don't have that vision
Ah. Yes. Protect the billionaire class. I don't have that visionSame but most Americans want to be them so bad they don't see what's happening.
Same but most Americans want to be them so bad they don't see what's happening.You literally need luck or you are there already. It would be impossible if you didn't already start high

I support the idea, but they chose the absolute worst week of the year to expect people to stick to all of that. No travel on the biggest travel weekend of the year? No shopping on two of the biggest shopping days of the year (Black Friday and Cyber Monday)? No work for a whole week, while many are still living paycheck to paycheck?That is actually why it would hurt the most..
No way people aren't backing out.

I mean that's kind of the point. Target one of the business weeks for consumerism as protest.Another way to look at it. If because people are too poor to buy during this time and sales are down. Now they have a movement to blame
But at its core it's another internet started boycott and those are never successful. In big part, because there's no sense of community banding together.
I mean that's kind of the point. Target one of the business weeks for consumerism as protest.I get that. But I think it would work better if it was targeted at specific businesses, if the goal was to get as much participation as possible.

* Spendingtrumps planning to shut down air space soon so the no traveling thing might just be his contribution to the movement?
* No Streaming
* No Restaurants
* No Travel
* No Work
* Stay Home
This will be an epic fart in the wind. No way in hell this is happening on any meaningful scale. You might get a few people who happen to do some of this just because of the Holiday but for the most part lol. No travel over Thanksgiving? No spending on Black Friday? No streaming for todays society? Yeah good luck with that.

There already has been boycotts called against specific companies. I remember earlier this year there was a call to boycott certain tech companies for a couple days or a week and then different one after. I bet you can guess how successful that was.True, it would actually hurt. I guess I'm just being pessimistic in that I don't think people will stick with it because of it being during a major holiday.
Any boycott being called for that is time limited is rather pointless, because people will bulk buy before or after the boycott. So while the company might be hurt during the week of boycott, they will likely not feel much in the end.
At least calling a boycott around one of the biggest consumer sales event, although not really much of a sale anymore in recent years, could actually hurt.

While I know many fly there are still plenty of people I know who travel for Thanksgiving who do it by vehicle if they are less than like 12 hours away. I assumed no travel covered a broad scope or it would have just said dont fly.Yeah I assume no travel includes all travel, not just flying. Two months ago, we did a 6 hour drive, instead of flying. And for Thanksgiving, we might do the 3 hour drive up to my gf's family.
The idea that anyone who is affected by the changes can just choose to go without work for a week is so out of touch I don't know what to tell you.
"Yeah boss, I'm not coming into work for a week to protest capitalism...what do you mean I'm fired?"
The idea that anyone who is affected by the changes can just choose to go without work for a week is so out of touch I don't know what to tell you.Go to work and sit at home after work. Don't go shopping. This is not a hard protest.

The site specifically says No work.Yes but do what you can. If you can't do one but can do the rest. That's still support
Go to work and sit at home after work. Don't go shopping. This is not a hard protest.so when little Johnny asks for the latest Turboman doll you give him a card that says tough shit I am protesting?

it is the season for food gatherings. Friends/family want to go out to eat your only option is to offer to cook the meal? hope you have two ovens. Also said no travel guess you don't have to cook because now they can't come over.
if you replaced streaming with gaming it would be 100% be skipped by all posters here
