There's a sidequest that gives you a Soothe Bell and just them being in your party and gaining EXP gets friendship up...

The NPC who gives you the Soothe Bell says something about drinking at Cafes raising Friendship too but I don't know if thats flavor or mechanical

You need to delete any Fairy-type moves Eevee knows. I'm pretty sure that requirement to evolve into Sylveon overrides the happiness evolutions of Espeon and Umbreon.

I believe there's a food/drink stand that lets you have coffee or something with your Pokemon, and those drinks raise happiness. Otherwise, it's just the normal stuff like leveling up, not letting it faint, giving it the EV-reducing berries that also raise happiness, etc.

finally got my game, currently training up the 5 mid mons they force you to catch because I'm sure I'm gonna be drawn into a battle after this and i don't want Chikarita to be over leveled.

This game has such a cozy vibe. Maybe its the fact that it all takes place in a set location but idk. The game just kinda has this warmth and coziness to it. I cant explain it

Greninjite was super easy to get. In just 4 ranked battles I got to rank N, took another 4 battles to get to rank K.

Ugh, a little tip I wish I knew beforehand, but do NOT engage with wild Pokemon before the day/night cycle is about to change. I was fighting an Alpha, defeated it and was about to throw the ball when at the same moment, night turned into day and refreshed the world. Now I'll have to do it all over again.

Damn the fight against Vinnie and Mega Drampa almost kicked my ass. I foolishly went in without a mega. Finished the fight with Braixen being my last mon standing with 12 HP >_>

This, I got first twice, including my last battle and that bumped it up 2 ranks, the earlier one did like four

there were people doing it at rank N with a literal first stage starter lol

really not hard

*edit Oh, gonna add before edit locks having a good aoe attack to mega into and clear out a group of 2 or 3 fighting helps a ton

Yo I just did the fight from X to W and I get the new battle system now. They kept setting spikes and if they used pin missile I could run and dodge them.

I also got some move that sets down an area that does damage over time and it's great stuff. Man I wish they weren't so horrible at making games. Imagining a full eight gym full 3D Pokemon that has stuff going on in it and has the details like dungeons and curated routes. Would be so great

Just did it myself. Got to make it to rank E to improve on the end of season rewards from Rank K. So I think I'll just stay here until the next one.

Is there a way to check the NPC quests you're in the middle of? I have 3 I couldn't complete because I didn't have the required Pokemon, and the icons aren't on the map anymore. The quests are to: Trade an Abra (only had one and didn't want to trade it), show all Flabebe colors (still missing orange), and bring the elemental monkeys (haven't found Simisear yet).

On the map screen press + to show mission list and then R to switch to side missions and then just pick the one you want the game to guide you to. If it's one that doesn't have a quest location it will guide you to the quest giver instead.

Go to your map and open the mission list. Then change to the Side tab.
I want a pet Lavos Spawn.

The Wild Zone 3 AFK shiny hunt is hilariously easy.

7 Litleo, 3 Espurr, 1 Skiddo, and 2 Pancham while I let it run for like 3 hours doing chores yesterday. I hadn't finished the tutorial so the day/night cycle wasn't acting making it easier.

How do you get screens off the switch?

normally Im lazy and just take a picture of the tv, but I never bothered to hook my switch 2 dock up (used the s1 one once in 5 years >_>)

If you take a capture there's al album on the switch where you can export photos, which then requires you to scan a QR code on your phone to add them to your phone library.

On Switch 2 they removed that option and you have to use some sort of Nintendo app to transfer photos to your phone.

I used the Bench Reset method last night to get myself a shiny alpha Staryu (which is now a Starmie on my team replacing the non-shiny one I had before) and a shiny alpha Magikarp this morning.

I heard another unrelated shiny jingle near the Vernal Avenue Pokemon Center, and I think the shiny is on a rooftop right near that Pokemon Center... that I don't know how to access. So I guess that shiny will just sit there until I can figure out how to get up there.

I didn't check the IV's, but apparently the way they make the alphas so bulky in the wild is that they actually come with maxed out HP EV's .

Got my Squirtle, all is right in the world.

I'm at rank W now, my team is Wartortle, Braixen, Bayleef, Hawlucha, shiny Flaaffy and alpha Victreebell. The last one is filler for now, but running around with a giant Victreebell is funny.

The size difference on them is actually impactful in this game, unlike the previous where it was purely aesthetic. It will affect the range/radius of your attacks (this can work for or against you; for instance, the potentially-early-game alpha Victreebel will not be able to hit things with Bullet Seed if they are too close), and obviously make your mon a bigger target.
