I liked it a lot. I saw the Long Walk yesterday so it was cool seeing that kid again.
The way its directed and looks at times reminded me of a 90s movie.

my only complaint was I wish if it had even a little more of a connection to Cobra Kai and the Karate Kid Remake. But that didnt ruin the movie in any way.
Bump
We gotta capitalize on Cobra Kais popularity

But also dont put any Cobra Kai stuff in this new movie at all

What were they thinking

Honestly, this was the only part of the movie I enjoyed lol.

That part was maybe the best. it needed more scenes like that. Or have Daniel bring his daughter to NY to spar with the boy.

also I know this was filmed not long after the end of Cobra Kai, but man Ralph looked older here. Cobra Kai must have had a good make up specialist

Let's ignore the one everyone actually liked, and try to revive the Jackie Chan version everybody hated! That'll go well!"

Pretty sure it was filmed before the final season of Cobra Kai. The release was delayed a year so the show could finish first. But since the movie is meant to take place a few years later they probably intentionally made him up to look a bit older.
Probably the only Mario Maker 2 level I'll ever create worth sharing.

When I get a job secured, I'll restore my Netflix account and check it out.

Daniel: Im sorry Jackie Chan, I cant just drop everything and fly to New York to help train this random kid so he can win some street tournament.

Daniel, in the very next scene: Hey I came to New York lol

Wait they didnt tie this into Cobra Kai? Thats such a weird decision

It certainly was a movie that was made.
Trying is the first step towards failure, so just dont give it a shot and you cant dissapoint.

On paper, it makes sense. This is a Karate Kid movie, not a Cobra Kai movie, and they didn't want to restrict their audience to people who watched 6 seasons of spinoff TV. They wanted people nostalgic for the OG franchise

In practice, it was incredibly stupid, because Cobra Kai already drew in those nostalgic people and was incredibly popular, while the God damn Jackie Chan movie was not. And let's be real, this is a "Jackie Chan sequel featuring Daniel Larusso as support."

If Johnny came to NY instead, LaRusso said you needed a real sensei. Itd be difficult to avoid him stealing the stage but I imagine it being great.

Even on paper, forgetting the nature of streaming. Give Johnny a really good scene and it incentivizes the movie watchers to go back and check out the show. Its so much easier today to start a well liked but finished show.

Jackie Chans character was a like a completely different character than Mr Han in KK2010.

And regardless of how you feel about Jayden Smith, the absence of his character was weird. Shouldve had him or at least his old rival. That guy is still in acting.

Yeah I thought it was weird they didnt connect it in any way. KK2010 was way better than it had any right to be, I thought thered at least be a cameo of Jayden. I cant stand the actor, but I thought Han would check in on him in nyc or so.

i still think this is a good movie, but there were really great missed opportunities
