If you don't like exploring and being lost in games, Hollow Knight is not for you and neither will buying Silk Song fix that. It's just what it is.
The fights are fun, but believe me you're gonna have to do a lot of lost exploring with no general lead of where to go. If you don't like marking on your map parts where you could progress if you had macguffin or ability, you will hate Hollow Knight. But that is generally what metroidvanias are. This one is one of the less linear metroidvanias out there, so if you're expecting to just go and get new content all the time you're gonna hate it. And that's generally what leads people to hate HK. Silk Song DOES NOT fix this (at least in my two hours of playing).
You just get more Hollow Knight with Silk Song don't know why there's so much hype when it seems like most people probably didn't even beat HK lol. I loved HK but I get that it isn't for most people. The hype makes it seem like it's the greatest game of all time, when in reality it's one of the best games of its genre, but it isn't breaking the genre to the point where random casuals or people who never played the game will enjoy playing this, and I think that's what trips a lot of people up. If you don't like metroidvanias this isn't gonna make you love them any more than you loved them before. In fact probably reinforce why you hate them more than anything.
HK isn't a game you recommend to people to get into metroid vanias, it'll probably push them away from it more than anything.
