Ignoring the fact I don't use butter anymore I have to admit I have grown up pretty much adhering to as long as it doesn't have visible hair and dirt on it I'm not one to freak out about food touching the floor.

I know how disgusting restaurants are even though I gave up eating out in 2017. Like if you are ok with what happens to your shit at most eat joints then you should be totally fine with food hitting the floor.

Into the garbage.

If I were home and it was the last of the butter, I would scrape the dirty side off and use it. If I had more butter, I'd throw the dirty stuff out.

I wish I had walked in here and you were taking a dump on the couch, or doing homework. Anything would be better than that.

If it's just one side, I don't get why people would throw out the whole thing. Just cut it off. Anything else is illogical.

If it had been at home, maybe option 2 could have been possible. But you said at work. Where many people walk, shed dead skin, and sneeze. So straight into the trash it goes.

I have a few rules to acceptable. It can't be wet/sticky/moist as that greatly increases the amount ot debris it collects. It can't be on the floor or in a super gross place.

For example, cracker or chip lands on the top of the stove or counter top it's fine. Sausage lands on floor, hell no.

A pad of butter is only about 1/2 of a tablespoon. A rather inconsequential amount.

Even if you are throwing out the "pad of butter" (never heard that term before) that hit the ground, couldn't you just take some more butter? Why would you need to eat the toast plain?

Guess I got the term wrong. It was a sizeable chunk of butter. And I was at work, brought the butter from home.
