The reports I've seen show a wind sheer likely dropping it back down to a 3 before it hits land, but that will still be pretty big and bad.

Yes there will be weakening before it hits between Clearwater and Naples due to wind shear. But still at 2/3 at landfall

Problem is the stronger it is now the worse storm surge will be.

This is sure to be another retired name just like Helene. Extreme damage coming. A difference of 50 miles will mean a lot for places like Tampa and even inland like Orlando

Yesterday I got an alert saying it got downgraded to Cat 1, now it shot up to 4. That'll be horrible.

I'm sure the nutjobs are foaming at the mouth talking about weather manipulation and such even more now.

They used to be. But thats what we keep talking about with climate change. The seas are getting warmer, which means hurricanes get stronger more often.
