So...the Goonies are going to be 40 somethings going on an adventure?

Will they fight a giant octopus?

It would legit be awesome if someone made a sequel to the Goonies 2 NES game in which you could play as all the different Goonies after you rescued them, with different items and skills for each Goonie.
man - noun. A miserable pile of secrets.
EXAMPLE: What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets. But enough talk, HAVE AT YOU!
Another 90s movie thats loved fondly from adults today thats going to target children lol. People gonna hate it. Theyre 20+ years too late for a sequel.

So are the original characters' kids going to get in an adventure now, or what? Because there's no more story to tell.
The food here is terrible. My steak was so tough it attacked my coffee and the coffee was too weak to defend itself.

Meh.

Im sure no ones gonna force you to watch it anyway. Outrage Culture over movies is so weird to me. Literally just dont watch it.

You know what I blame this on the breakdown of? Society.
If it's going to be the kids grown up it's gonna be worse than Good Burger 2.

Hopefully it's the grandkids and the original cast don't appear much in the movie, maybe like :45 seconds when they're in the backyard having a BBQ and another minute in the end of the movies

Something like Chevy Chase in Vacation would be fine IMO

Short Round was in that Everything Everywhere all at Once movie recently so he's good to go. Corey Feldman is crazy now I think trying to be a rock star. Mikey is now fat and Chunk is now skinny.

What a time to be alive.

All of the main actors are still alive. This sounds pretty good actually.

Man, I would love to see Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Ke Huy Quan and the rest of them all together again.
Cool. Hopefully it's even close to as fun as the first one. There doesn't seem to really be "wonder is kid adventure" movies anymore.

Can't wait for their iconic catchphrase of "It's gooning time!" to be said numerous times!
Without truth, there is nothing.
Meh. Just like the live action disney remakes I accept the fact that it isn't going to be for me and is for the next generation. I would just nitpick the hell out of it since the og goonies is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Basically I'm not going to be a hater, lol.

Yeah, I have chilled so hard on the "They're ruining my childhood!" with remakes and reboots and stuff. It's like... why do I care? At the very worst you'll get a bad movie out of it. But if it's a decent new entry then you have that, or possibly people now being interested in the original that you liked so much.

I made a comparison on the movie board that these aren't erasing over the originals, the original will still be there for you to go back and watch and enjoy anytime you want. This isn't ruining anything. You can just... no interact with the new one at all. I just don't get people's visceral reaction to stuff.

Funny I find out this news after just watching it yesterday.

Considering we have the entire main cast still alive as well as 2/3 of the bad guys that could make for a fun sequel. I'll expect it to be bad as these many decades later sequels tend to be, but hope it's good

Exactly. I tell the same thing to "passionate" final fantasy fans, 2000s teen titans cartoon fans (ironically enough even this was pretty different from the 70s/80s teen titans cartoon), whatever else. They can't ever take away your memories, or hopefully the 4K UHD blu-ray re-releases, old game ports to modern platforms etc.

Best case scenario the new thing turns out pretty good and you can now like both. That's resident evil 2 for me...liking both.

Worst case scenario you get another George Lucas who tries to alter your old memories for awhile, lol.

This is kind of where I'm at with it. It's great to have some old classics that you like and if someone makes a new film to continue the story, it's a good chance to have another trip into that world, and either it's good and it draws new people in or it sucks and you forget about it.

The original experience is never going to be undone. No-one's forcing you to take anything new under your wing if you don't end up liking it.

Those are 2 very different genres. Older actors in a ghost movie doesnt affect anything. With goonies, the adult actors are not going to be able to capture the same spirit as their childhood selves and passing the torch to a new group is a lot harder.

Rationally I get that, but emotionally it does ruin the original. It's ruined simply because I know it exists. Now and forevermore, when I watch one of my favorite movies of all time, I will not be able to push out of the back of my mind the thought that "40 years after this they go on another adventure and it's dumb".
Cover your knees up if you're gonna be walkin' around everywhere.
And it's not every movie that I like or even love. I love Gremlins and Gremlins 2. I watch Gremlins every Christmas season. It's my favorite Christmas movie and one of my favorite movies overall. But if they were to do a sequel now, I could probably get on board. Even if I didn't think it would be good. I would probably still look forward to it.

But with this, there's just something that makes me, as you say, viscerally go "no, please don't!". I can't explain it.
