Nazi nerds trying to flip it as "herp Reich means realm in german" on social media now.The funny thing is, the Reich that's mentioned in the text blurb isn't referring to the Nazis, it's referring to the pre-WWI German Empire.
Like that word hasn't been tied to nazis for 90 years or so now.

Republicans seemed to embrace claiming Russian talking points pretty well. Im sure he figured he would push the envelope and try some Nazi ones.
i don't get it, why are the talking about the German Empire to begin with? It's from the Wikipedia article for World War I. I have no idea why they decided to lift it from there.
it's referring to the pre-WWI German Empire.
Isn't that same? The Holy Roman Empire was the 1st Reich, and the German Empire was the 2nd
Hitler wanted the 3rd Reich. He was...also referring to pre-world war Empire.
The Holy Roman Empire was the 1st Reich, and the German Empire was the 2nd
The funny thing is, the Reich that's mentioned in the text blurb isn't referring to the Nazis, it's referring to the pre-WWI German Empire.Ah yeah that's what we should aspire to. WWI Germany.
I guess the person who made the video didn't know that, they just saw the word Reich and assumed it was talking about the Nazis, so they threw it in.
And Nazism was to make a 3rd.but WingsOfGood, you're arguing in bad faith here! the quote we put was from WWI, the 2nd reich, not the third! we're not calling for the rise of a new Nazi party by creating a 4th reich, we're... uh... german nationalists now??
So anyone who does the same and says we want a new Reich, that is Nazism. So if Trump points to Reich 1, he is still imitating Hitler.

Part of the republican base hates Nazisdo they, though?
do they, though?I mean they say they do but still vote for Repubs.
do they, though? It's a shrinking number that's losing power but yes they do.
Just to make absolutely sure, there's no actual non-academic language use in English for the German word 'Reich' except to refer to the Third Reich, aka Nazi Germany, is there?
Just to make absolutely sure, there's no actual non-academic language use in English for the German word 'Reich' except to refer to the Third Reich, aka Nazi Germany, is there?Yeah, colloquially there is very little use, if any, of "Reich" referencing any German regime other than Nazi Germany.
This election season is the time to just say it straight out without any of the niceties we grew up taught to display in order to respect opposing political opinions. The modern GOP is evil, and has been for a long time. Donald Trump is evil, and has been since before he entered politics. In before some tankie or MAGA shill pretending to be a leftist cries out "But Genocide Joe!".
If you vote GOP or refuse to vote for Biden, the only realistic alternative at this point, then you are endorsing evil. You are allowing it to slither into power, to harm this country, and to hurt marginalized people who are our neighbors and friends.
Biden is absolutely flawed and makes mistakes. I dont care, and neither should anyone else. This time there is clearly a good side and a bad side, and a refusal to endorse the good and figure the rest out later means you are on the wrong side.
I dont want to hear about policy or anything else. MAGA is screaming who they are from a damn bullhorn, and it is not acceptable. It never was. Vote Blue, or understand that you are helping people who are screaming in your face that they are evil ascend to power, with all of the unconscionable consequences that will bring.

Agree with all of this. A better argument for people who want to make it "Biden v Trump" is to make it "Democracy v Fascism". The Republican Party will absolutely turn us into some model of either Hungary or Russia if they're ever given the chance, with or without Trump.I find that Bluesky has gotten more unpleasant with so-called "leftists" taunting us with a Trump victory. What's worse is that many of them are from other countries encouraging American leftists not to even vote at all.
