I still haven't seen Last Jedi or Rise of Skywalker although I've seen many clips of the former

Last Star Wars film I saw was Force Awakens in 2015. I didn't like it but it was watchable, better than the prequel trilogy

Worse than the prequel trilogy somehow

The only movie after ROTJ that fans seem to like is Rogue One.
This is where cool people write stuff.
what?? but what about your rating topic?!

No
Hurry up, Goldenrod! You're gonna be a permanent resident!
I used to dislike the prequels a decent amount, but I didn't know how bad it could get.

Force Awakens is at best, boring and bad. 8 and 9 are just really bad.

Rey is a cliche snore, but Driver's Dork Vader ruins everything.

TFA is okay as a nostalgia trip but sucks otherwise.

TLJ and TROS are just awful. A minute or two of cinematic brilliance in each movie does not save a trilogy. TLJ was basically a slow-moving version of Speed where you can get off the bus to do even dumber things. And then Palpatine somehow returns for TROS.

They didn't even have a story outline when they started it was literally improv between directors. Yeah it sucked ass. People thought the prequels sucked but at least those are the product of artistic vision. The sequels are just soulless business products.
No longer guessing if I'm wrong it's your problem

The sequels do suck. But HARD disagree with this statement.

Seriously, you only got Jar Jar for one movie. He then became a senator and just mostly kept his yap shut for the rest of existence and also got one episode where he was mistaken as a jedi for laughs in a cartoon series.

Also, Darths and Droids Jar Jar is loveable and fun and has basically redeemed the character for me entirely. You're a genius, Jar Jar Binks!

The actual cinematography is better than the prequels, but overall the prequels at least have one cohesive story. The sequel trilogy is just a box of junk that somebody shook up and started pulling random bits out to use.

the biggest issue seems to be the lack of direction

But the sequel trilogy definitely had better acting and cinematography. Plus less CGI

If someone thought for one minute and actually planned out a trilogy, we would not have faced this disaster.

Lucas winged the originals but at least he had a cohesive story to tell.

I still can't believe we never got a proper reunion with the big three (Luke, Han, Leia), and now we never will.
don't care

Abrams had a three movie treatment, even after they brought on Johnson. Daisy Ridley even said in an interview that Abrams came to the second movie with a whole bunch of notes and things he wanted Johnson to carry forward so that the third movie plot would make sense, and by her own words Johnson chose to use literally none of it. It's even worse than nobody trying to plan out all three movies. It was actively sabotaged.

Force Awakens and The Last Jedi were great. Rise of Skywalker legit sucked though.

>Rian reading through JJ's notes

"Okay, so we start out on the ice planet Noth, where the Resistance still being hounded by a vastly-superior First Order despite Starkiller being destroyed...the First Order attacks with ET-ET Crawlers, and the Resistance fights them in their Ice Speeders...Finn, Rose, and Poe narrowly escape through a meteor field and find refuge in the Sky City of Busbin...alright, I'm not reading any more of this shit..."

TFA is good.

The other two have a few great moments but otherwise suck, because they didn't actually have a plan at all for the story.

tbh as a standalone film I do really enjoy it, just hate how disconnected it feels from the others

I don't like how they dropped the Rey/Finn ship between TFA and TLJ. I thought they'd be good together.

It was festering garbage. Its beyond terrible and one of the worst things that ever happened to Star Wars. 9 was bad but given the narrative train wreck that was TLJ nothing short of a miracle was ever going to make TROS good.
"Obedience is submission veiled with gravity." - Funboy "The Crow"
The impressive thing is all 3 ST movies are bad in completely distinct ways. Succinctly, TFA is extraordinarily unoriginal and bland. TLJ actively goes out of its way to kill every interesting plot thread setup by TFA and all plot threads that would lead into RoS. And RoS is all-around disjointed, nonsensical, and incompetent.
