I was actually here. I abandoned my old account when I made this one, but Ive been around a long time.

I said Im willing to let it go because I cant say anything definitively, though.

I'm a bit confused by the apparent assertion of "I'm not convinced racists were racist about this thing in the past" in a topic where racists are blatantly being racist about something.

I feel like it's way more believable that people were being racist about it than that they weren't, why do you find that so hard to believe? Kinda weird, dude.

Were going backwards socially, thats why examples of things that no one cared about in the past are relevant. Like a woman protagonist in Alien, or the black samurai in Neo Contra. Trump even tried running for PotUS in 2000 and unofficially in 2012 and both went nowhere.

The internet is the greatest tool for spreading information, but also disinformation. It can provide both the most complex knowledge of reality, as well as the most ignorant opinions of people. We could be using such a great resource to further examine the mysteries of life, but instead we get trapped in a cycle of consuming hateful and fearful garbage ad infinitum.

Generic create-a-character characters don't tend to work in a narrative driven game where the protagonist is a fleshed out character. Not sure why some people seem to think every game should have character creation.

In universe it could work seeing as Abstergo fronts as a video game company. The custom characters could be explained as Abstergo Entertainment tailoring the player's avatar using collected DNA under the guise that it aids in immersion or whatever bullshit.

But then you lose the ability to have plot points based on characteristics of the character be it physical characteristics or personality based characteristics since people don't like their created characters behaving in a way that they don't expressly want them to. You end up having to make a very different kind of game if you have character creation.

I'm picturing a Quantum Leap or Down to Earth type scenario, where you see yourself but the NPCs still react to Altar or whoever the protagonist may be.

I can only think of about 3-4 times he's been used/referenced over the past few years, including this game.

Eh, I'd think that'd hurt immersion, though, since nobody is reacting to your character as they appear. It's like older games that let you create a female character, but everybody still referred to them as "he."

Arbitrary denial of personhood based on stupidity and hurt feelings isn't exactly out of character for a racist.
