Like to troll. Say you pull up a random registry and they have a coffee maker, and you just buy it off their list and on their end it shows someone bought it for them but you're just gonna keep it for yourself.

Obviously this only makes sense if you were going to buy those items for yourself anyway.
Doesn't it automatically ship to the registry owner?

Not at target, you just scan the barcode at the cashier from the registry for the item you're buying. My mom had to do it for a wedding she's going to.
But isn't it a huge pain for the couple if you actually did show up at a wedding with a coffee maker, toaster, pots, glassware, etc.? They'd have to somehow get all that home.
