There is rumors that Dragon Ball Sparking Zero might not have local multiplayer thanks to Microsoft and Sony.
https://gamerant.com/dragon-ball-sparking-zero-no-splitscreen-multiplayer-rumor/
It isn't official at the moment, so maybe it isn't true.
Yeah, I really don't buy this one at all. One of the biggest releases of last year baldur's gate 3 had split-screen, so if sony and microsoft was trying to interfere and prevent these devs from putting split-screen in the game just to sell more consoles and subscriptions then they definitely would have tried to pull it with baldur's gate 3 first.
When devs opt to make their games online only and to get rid of things like LAN, they do it because
they
want to do it, like with activision-blizz and diablo 3 compared to diablo 4 and diablo 2 remake. There is nothing stopping them for continuing to do their local thing like with gearbox and borderlands 3+the more recent tiny tina spin-off game.
If this rumor is actually true then the dudes they interviewed obviously is not trying to say anything to put heat on their bosses at bandai-namco and they know damn well gamers will kick up a storm on social media when influencers spread the world which could effect day 1 sales/pre-orders, so they are going to just shift the blame to sony and microsoft instead. (And honestly, its most likely going to work lol).
