Star Wars hasn't been good since 1980. Only decent movie over the last 44 years was Rogue One and that is still nowhere near as good as first 2 movies.

Rogue One was ok and definitely the best Disney Star Wars but it gets overrated purely because of the Vader scene at the end.
It's just conceptually extremely boring. Light side vs Dark side, ooooooo.

Nah, the Vader scene is legit, but the whole third act is top tier. It gets so much praise cuz it's so different from everything else SW's. The mission is a success, but there is no happy ending. No ceremonies or big celebrations. Just sacrifice in the name of hope.
It doesn't suck. I've liked much more of the recent Star Wars stuff than I've disliked.

Ok
i mostly like it, the sequels aren't great and i do troll about them, but really i'm not mad about them or anything.

i still don't understand why they had luke do the thing, but whatever.

A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back are fine movies

Return of the Jedi sucked but at least it concluded the story

Everything else is just trash with no redeemable qualities

because it's aimless. there's no direction, there's no end goal. the og trilogy was a complete arc. the prequels, while shitty, were mostly a put together arc sort of.

the sequels had no point and didn't really go anywhere. what's the point of mandalorian besides looking cool because i don't know either? where is anything going right now, what even is the empire or the jedi right now? who knows but force powers and lightsabers everywhere anyway.

aimless. chaos.

I kind of agree with you, though I would say that RotJ is a very flawed film with some of the best scenes in Star Wars in it. On balance I feel like it comes out okay, but it has the highest highs and lowest lows of the original trilogy.
I'm not liking the RotJ hate here...

The beginning with Jabba the Hut feels so removed from the rest of the movie. The only purpose is to rescue Han, who just ends up taking space. It would have been better if they just killed him off.
The retcon that Luke and Leia were related was stupid and gross.
Ewoks beating the Stormtroopers was silly.
Some bad acting like when Luke snaps at Vader.

This unfortunately. I used to love star wars a lot, but pretty much every new entry feels like just another product off the conveyor belt. There's no point to any of it other than keeping the franchise going.

Star Wars would benefit from tackling a whole different era for a while. We don't need to see more Skywalker Saga shit because the story is basically over.

The Acolyte is nice because it (seemingly) has nothing to do with the Skywalker Saga. Just a whole new slew of characters that they're free to do what they please with. I'd also love to see Star Wars go into the distant future, long after the Skywalker stuff is done.
I have nothing else to say
The Clone Wars series, Rebels, and The Bad Batch were all awesome, as was Andor.

There was enough mileage in the concept for 2 and a half decent films.

I love Star Wars (at least the pre-disney stuff, I really can't stand the sequels and haven't even bothered with most of the TV series), but 4 and 5 are the only good films and everything else is varying degrees of bad. It was so wildly popular and successful from the start that it became an almost foundational piece of popular culture, but it was never really suited for so much media to be developed around it because there was never any real substance there. I think we've come to learn that Star Wars was always just lightsabers and ships and droids and whatnot, and there's only so many times you can echo that imagery in movies and tv series and games before it gets boring. The disney stuff especially has felt so self-consciously like they are trying to be "Star Wars" instead of just making interesting stories.
they should have just killed han in empire strikes back

According to who? The fact that the later films broke a billion dollars at the box office prove the fact that plenty of people disagree with you.

This is pretty accurate. OT is like my comfort food. Revenge was decent but 1-2 were so bad it was still hard to enjoy. Rogue One is the best of the Disney stuff. Solo had its moments.

They are caught between the age gap of their audience. The Star Wars kids are now adults and they want the saga to mature with them. Star Wars was always for kids, like 2d Disney animations. Eventually, the animation industry figured out how to include adults, by adding referential humor, parody, and nostalgia. Star Wars hasn't, so it's stuck chasing it's intended audience, retreading and reciting the saga for the new kids. This mostly disappoints the long time fans as they are no longer children and are tired of hearing the same story told over again. Occasionally, they make something different that see's success with that older audience(Rogue, Andor, Mando, KoToR).

The PT had one director *and* a continuity officer: Lucas himself. And, in spite of this, the PT still had problems.

The DST is more like this: Imagine an Olympic relay running team with all of the equipment and facilities needed but no rules or coaching. Every runner does their own thing and the only time they see each other is during the live hand-off at their event. What do you suppose the chances are of the baton being missed or dropped during the hand-off?

Star Wars sucks because the prep work and setup for the "new Disney era" was botched by Disney. Moreover, where people would have found solace in old content which Disney would still make money off of, Disney decided to instead double-down on their own vision and nuked Star Wars' "Legacy" from orbit.

It isn't just the sequels that are bad, it is everything around them that is bad. The very foundation of the story is a broken mess that tramples on the previous series.

The prequels were bad movies, but they had vision and excellent world building that led into a lot of better Clone Wars properties. This is because George Lucas can't write dialogue for shit and didn't have people saying no to him, but he has always been a brilliant world builder.

The sequels simply have no redeeming qualities and they took options given from the prior series and made the worst possible choice. Instead of seeing an older Leia, Luke, and Han fighting to hold together and expand the New Republic against a fragmented Empire, we got the "First Order" setting things back to zero. And these problems multiply and expand... it honestly goes on and on and on.

So TLDR, you'd need to write a book to adequately describe the innumerable problems with Star Wars post-Disney.
Short Answer: It is complicated.

Long Answer: Disney fucked up immediately by declaring everything except the original six movies and clone wars non-cannon. The Sequel trilogy then came out and started out well enough only to fall apart because there wasn't a clear start to finish vision for what the sequel trilogy should have been. Instead it felt like JJ Abrams set something up only for Rian Johnson to knock it all down because "subverting expectations" or something then JJ Abrams came back to try to put the pieces back together. After the sequel trilogy it has felt like Disney has just been trying to redo what was covered in the delcared non-cannon material. Legacy characters are seemingly brought back only to tear down and use as fodder for new Disney created characters. There have been high points like Rogue One and Mandalorian S1&2 but there have also be terrible lows like Episode 8 and 9, Obi Wan, etc... Just a mixed bag that shows in the financials of star wars in general under Disney (they still haven't broken even on the IP).
