The democrat party, it's main power force anyway, has always still been pretty conservative. American politics is unfortunately conservative. Only Progressives are different, but they don't have much power. They are just a minority in the Democrat party. They kinda should be their own different party. In an ideal future, Republicans would no longer exist as a party and Democrats would be the new conservative party, with a Progressive Party taking the liberal side

If this country was as left as people claim Bernie Sanders would have given Hillary a real run for her money back in 2016. We also had Yang run in 2020 and he was also more left than Biden but didn't get any momentum in his campaign.This is still the country where Occupy Wall Street fizzled out. Even without Republicans categorically fucking things up, progress would be slow.

I haven't followed the protests closely, the general gist seems like a bunch of kids making camps on school lawns.Pro Israel counter protesters snuck onto one of the camps, (i think at UCLA) and beat up protesters while cops just watched. Later the cops then beat up the same protesters a 2nd time. And then arrested them. No pro Israeli protesters were arrested
