All protest of Israel is de facto illegal in the US. It doesn't matter how peaceful you are, they will circulate your name and face as an antisemite, they will get corporations to blacklist you from any non-poverty job, they will rescind your degree, and if you keep doing it they will bring the police who train in Israel to come beat the shit out of you.

Establishment democrats are pretty conservative.

So if the government threatens to kill us, violent protest should not happen? I mean, the government already is in various parts of this country.
He's a centrist Democrat. He has never been promoted even remotely as a leftist.

Leftism in America is far too fractured to have any real play in party politics

The democrat party, it's main power force anyway, has always still been pretty conservative. American politics is unfortunately conservative. Only Progressives are different, but they don't have much power. They are just a minority in the Democrat party. They kinda should be their own different party. In an ideal future, Republicans would no longer exist as a party and Democrats would be the new conservative party, with a Progressive Party taking the liberal side
This is a pretty common thought for most people. Seriously, it's the most basic statement that the average person will nod their head to.

You can make the point that you want him to make a comment about the Counter-Protestors and call them out specifically, but this statement he made is a generic, "whoever is protesting, be peaceful.

He not a republican, he's just not a leftist.
No lollygaggin'.
The American establishment hates violent protests at home but supports them abroad especially if they happen in a country the US dislikes.

Most democrats are center right and would rather keep status quo than actually progress. Its why AOC Bernie and the rest are so popular
Sadly, nowadays it takes more than just being right wing to be Republican, and for all his faults Biden isn't insane or stupid enough to clear the bar.

If this country was as left as people claim Bernie Sanders would have given Hillary a real run for her money back in 2016. We also had Yang run in 2020 and he was also more left than Biden but didn't get any momentum in his campaign.

It's the far extreme right that claims that everything is super far left when most that they claim are far left are at best a slight lean left from the middle.

From a certain point of view, he's not off base. A peaceful protest isn't setting out SEEKING violence. But it doesn't have to roll over and let the authorities retaliate.

This is still the country where Occupy Wall Street fizzled out. Even without Republicans categorically fucking things up, progress would be slow.

Has there been violence going on? I haven't followed the protests closely, the general gist seems like a bunch of kids making camps on school lawns.

Pro Israel counter protesters snuck onto one of the camps, (i think at UCLA) and beat up protesters while cops just watched. Later the cops then beat up the same protesters a 2nd time. And then arrested them. No pro Israeli protesters were arrested

Biden is the greatest President ever.
More progressive policies have passed under Biden than any other president in most of the users here lifetime.

Yall gotta stop with the purity bs. He isn't doing great on Israel, and its nothing wrong with calling that particular issue out. But that doesn't make him Republican or "just as bad as them" because of it.

Again, more progressive agendas have passed under Biden than most of the Presidents in most of this boards lifetime.
You all realize that no matter who the president is, it's their job to discourage violence, especially against institutions.

The phrase "not doing great" is quite the understatement, he's awful on Israel and yeah trump would be worse both internationally and domestically so when it comes time to choose between the two I'm gonna vote Biden but let's not pretend he's progressive, like at all. He might be the most progressive president in my lifetime but that's such a low fucking bar that someone who isn't even progressive is the most progressive.

This may be hard to believe for some, but the person that has held major elected office as a Democrat for a half century and who supports trans, gay, women's reproductive, minority, and union rights along with expanded environmental protections and student loan forgiveness is not a Republican.
Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

Cases like this really show that the left will destroy their own side before literally anything else

Bidens israel politics and everything surrounding it are DOGSHIT, but republicans are quite literally trying to take away abortion, trans rights, and create a christian theocracy. No, Biden is not a fucking republican.

Some of you have lost the plot.

less both sides than leftism has no foothold in America.

the GOP is a bunch of Christo-fascists; Biden being a centrist is still infinitely more to the left than the other side.

You really need to look at what Republicans say because this isn't anywhere near it lol a Republican would be saying protestors need to be jailed or shot.
No, he's not a Republican. The republicans are calling these protests 'little gazas' and calling for police to murder a bunch of school kids. The Democrats are just wagging their fingers at them, saying "Don't do that! Bad!" probably because a bunch of moderate dems support Israel unconditionally, no matter how much genocide they do.

MAGAs think we are like them and are in a cult that will worship the ground their party leader walks on, when in reality, we voted to prevent the orange idiot from winning and will continue to do so. Though shockingly, other than Israel, Biden has done a shockingly good job.
