tbf, as I was typing up that explanation I did think to myself, "how do I write this without making it sound insane?"
I mean it makes perfect sense to consider if they are traveling through time they have some sort of anchor to it. I mean fuck even in the 90s X-Men Bishop and other time travelers had to have a band that anchors them to the time they go to otherwise when that gets destroyed they go back to their original timeline.
Although thinking about one part of that initial scene makes me want to watch the cutscene again to see something.
