I was in Japan with a buddy of mine, some years ago, and as an european I can only agree.

Our most used insider joke there was "and that's why the japanese are culturally superior to us".

People waiting for a bus?
People staying in line for some escalator?
Traffic discipline all around?
Toilets with high class bidets everywhere?
Vending machines with hot and cold stuff at nearly every corner?
Horny anime ads?

Only thing that somewhat sucked were the tiny hotel rooms/baths and that public transport wasn't as... clear for tourists as we hoped it would be (and also pretty expensive compared to what we are familiar with).

But we didn't go to japan to stay in some hotel room or bus anyways.

Oh right, the bidets. I didn't see one toilet that didn't have a bidet. Every restaurant, every hotel I was at. Everywhere had a bidet.... and yes, easy access to vending machines that were affordable too! And more than just 8 options in them as well. They averaged like, 30 items per machine.

My only issue really was just having to carry my trash everywhere. I mean, I got used to it to the point I carried a bag with me out. Took a day or so to realize that you just can't find trashcans anywhere. But it's understandable when a society actually cares to keep things nice, and how trash cans can just be carelessly overfilled.

Oh, and for some reason, there were areas in both Osaka and Tokyo where it smelled like sewerage or something. Some people told me it was the trees but I kind of doubt it.
