because it took me 42 hours to beat Remake and playing the FF7 OG Remaster, it only took me 7 hours to get out of Midgar.

and that was with some afking and farming

They expanded and changed some stuff. Some of it felt like outright filler, while other parts were given more time to digest. Ive played through the Midgar part of FF7, and the remake mostly felt fine to play through.
Almost all of the sidequest stuff is optional. You can safely jump to story sequences whenever you want.

Side stuff in the game is handled much better. Every sidequest involves a party member, and you get some character insight, good interactions, and good items or weapons for doing them.

In Remake, it was like, help these kids collect some dumb stuff to watch an adult talk at you in a kid body for five minutes.

I'm playing it for the first time now, and after 6ish hours I think only about the 1st hour's worth of the original game's plot has happened.

It's been a lot of side quests to flesh out the slums, and some segments that weren't in the original to give more screentime to Avalanche's members + introduce new characters. But yeah, even if you just skip the side quests, the MSQ is still about 50/50 original stuff and new stuff so far.

OG version for the win. I actually recently noticed they added Crisis Core remastered to the Xbox games store

It expands on a lot of stuff, even if you ignore the side quests. Plus some fights take a fair bit longer than they did in the OG or straight up didn't exist. Like the whole climbing up to the Shinra HQ section is a full on chapter with enemies and a boss unique to the Remake.
The name is wackyteen for a reason. Never doubt.
Just playing on full 3d and watching the cutscenes actually play out like a movie, will take more time even if there was nothing added to it.

Some would call it padding to the existing story.

Padding is what Rebirth did with all the fucking mini games. Got at least 3 per chapter or some shit

I want more responses!

to me, stuff like Fort Condor feels like 100% filler in OG. Plus any super repetitive farming you have to do to unlock some random ass item. and every time you have to redo a minigame because of shitty controls is absolutely filler.
