I watched a Let's Play of 5 and 6 and all I can say is I wouldn't have gotten any of the good endings.

Yep. Loved the series. I was hooked on Sierra games back then. I spent sooooooooooo much time on the 3rd game To Heir is Human. Loved it so much. Played a ton of 5 when I first got in high school. Definitely a fan of the series.

I've played 3. Pet peeve here, and this doesn't apply to you, but I don't get why anyone would want to watch a let's play instead of reading a text guide, with the sole exception of puzzles and the like where one is unable to understand said text guide. It spoils too much of the experience.
All except for Mask of Eternity and the fan remakes.
It's amazing how people hang around message boards of games they don't like
every single one, i grew up with them, they taught me how to type

I put my heart and soul into my work and I fear I have lost my mind in the process
KQ5 is horrible but KQ6 is one of the greatest of the genre.

That is the fun in them, figuring out stuff and progressing. I mean you could blow through the game with a guide but that would be pretty boring, and short. I remember when I was young I was thrilled when I figured out what to do to clear something I had been stuck on.

They were some of my first PC games. I played through 1 through 7 (sold as a bundle) with a guide as a kid. (It was still very difficult for me even with the guide at that age. Would have been basically impossible without, except for 7.)

Pretty nifty series. I've heard there are remastered versions (possibly fan-made?) that have removed all the possible softlocks and adjusted some things to be less crazy obtuse, but I don't really know much about them.

King's Quest 2 had that bridge crossing that could end the game quickly if you saved wrong.
If you can't say something nice, go ahead.
Yes.
