Alternative forums / message boards to GameFAQs?

Ok, apparently this site is being killed off even faster than I expected. Better get info now, while I can.

I know there's multiple Discord servers set up, but like...fucking hell do I hate Discord. Twitter is even worse. Reddit has a horrible layout but for now I guess is my next best option to discuss politics/social stuff.

My preference has always been forums. With threads/topics, separate boards, etc... It seems this style of "social media" is being actively killed off by tech companies b/c it makes them less money than all the horrible newer forms of social media.

I still peruse and post on Giant In The Playground and maybe I'll go back to EN World, but those are D&D boards and either don't allow politics discussion or severely restrict it. I also don't want a fucking echo chamber, whether left wing or right wing, which seems increasingly harder to find. As for moderation, the ideal for me was always strong CONSISTENT/FAIR moderation of clear abuses (death threats, doxing, fully "adult content", using racial slurs, unmarked spoilers, etc...) but otherwise pretty lax and free to say what you want. Obviously not moderation the style here, but options are limited and you have to make do...

So anyway, with that said... Any decent options still available? All I have seen is talk about Discord, Reddit, etc... So I made this topic specific looking for new options for a forum to use.
I need to find a new "home". :(

I'd say luelinks, but tbh, it's actually even worse than gamefaqs now lol.

I knew of a place set up very simiar to these boards but it was all about model cars and its population makes current gamefaqs look like a metropolis. Think it was somewhere between 25 and 50 dudes pretty much all boomers. it was personally owned and ran though so no stupid shit.

No I'm not into model cars. It was originally made by my step father but he handed over ownership to a friend cause he got tired of running it.

It would be easier to notice if said sig contained a hyperlink to said board.

Sure there's Reddit and the Steam forums but it seems like YouTube comments on vids are where most people post nowadays.

Hmmm, seems like your site isn't working well. It takes forever to load and some of the links to sub-forums don't even work. :(

I would use Reddit but I hate the discussion format with only the highest rated comments sitting at the top. Doesn't seem like there's room to really talk unless you're responding off the same comment chain.

HFBoards is primarily hockey themed, but when you dig into the alternative boards, there's stuff for gaming, entertainment, and lots of other things. The user base is massive and it's generally a very active forum, it may not be quite at the pace CE was, but you'll find a bunch of people to talk to with non-sports related topics.

This is my problem with reddit too. Honestly I kinda prefer most of the other things they've done over older forums, but it feels like you can't have a discussion.

You can sort Reddit after topic creation time, l always do that.

CE in the form of a message board is done tbh. Join us on the CE discord before the board dies out.
