Just going by numbers it was obvious time was limited.

I used to believe this place would have have a very long slow death over the course of possibly decades. I thought some of us would still be here as elderly. I didn't expect someone to buy the site and decide to excute it

I thought CE and other social boards would last at least till the end of this decade.

I did. First time I've ever felt that way too. And from what I could tell many of the long time posters did as well. Not sure where you're coming from with this theory that the site wasn't on the decline.

It was previously dying a slow, peaceful death in hospice. Now, it's on an operating table, slowly being ripped apart and turned into some hellish, tortured creature that'll probably live on in pain for years to come.

Next year will be my 20th year here on GFAQs/CE, and to be honest I probably stopped enjoying coming here around 2014/15. Ive been coming back simply out of habit not because I enjoy it anymore.

Ive never posted that much, but many of the users that have remained since the boards started dying in the early 2010s are the terminally online unhinged types and tbh its made the place pretty toxic. CE used to be fun, but its been a pretty miserable/negative place for a while now.

I think its time for it to die.

I honestly dont think Gamefaqs will ever die. Maybe its message boards, but Gamefaqs is fairly important for guides..although maybe YouTube kills that side of things

I kinda don't give a fuck what I say right now. If I get banned, it's like, "Oh? My account died six weeks before they officially closed the boards?"

Or maybe it's six months. Either way, I feel like I could wake up any day and these boards would all be gone.
