Depends on the tax. Taxes that are disproportionately paid by the rich and incentivise economic activity rather than saving and rent-seeking (i.e. taxes on wealth, land, inheritance and high incomes) are good, as are taxes on things that cause harm (e.g. tobacco, alcohol, pollutants).
