There was plenty of religious right-wing crap in our country before the 1900s, as well. And outside of our own country, religious right-wing type stuff has been a pretty big constant in a lot of countries in the last 2000 years.Hell, the Puritans who settled in what became the US were kicked out of the UK for being too right-wing (or the equivalent of such a thing back then).
shit, i forgot to watch this last night.
UhhI'm not sure what you call that time in Europe where Catholicism brutally suppressed practically everyone and freedom of expression then.

I don't get why they still want Christianity. I thought Jesus was too "woke" for them.votes
votesOh, I know the reason. Just more a general statement that the party of "good Christian values, " and the people they appeal to, always seem to actively despise the very values of the person their claimed faith is named for.
By looking back on the half-century of Christian nationalist belief, organizing and action, the events of January 6 no longer seemed shocking, but the logical endpoint of anti-democratic ideals. It was unmistakable, once you looked in the right place and you listened to what people were saying, and you understood how to decode what they were saying, said Ujlaki. Little would you know that when they talk about recreating the kingdom of God on earth, they werent talking about something spiritual. They were talking about demolishing democracy so that God, ie themselves, could rule. "
