It's not hypothetical. You quoted a post claiming I said something that literally said the opposite.

You are deliberately claiming I either said the opposite of what I said each post in the post you quote. Or repeating what I said, to characterize something I never said.

You aren't even trying to hide your agenda at this point.

And now you're just going into incoherent rambling, the usual pattern with you. I said it was hypocritical. You claimed I'm not even trying for repeating a post I've already made when you're the one who did that first. You have severe self-awareness issues along with your reading comprehension.
Nothing I said was incoherent.

You are just doing what I said you came here to do from the jump. You logged into that account with the sole purpose to air whatever personal grudge and fixation you have with me. That's literally the only reason you dug up that account.

You aren't even following along with the posts you quote as they say the complete opposite. You literally quoted a post from me that says if YouTube wants to platform adult content, put it behind an age consent wall. Your response to that was to quote that, and reply with a fabricated talking point that I argued "because youtube has kids that use it doesn't mean 18+ content can't be platformed there."

The very post you quoted literally says if they want to platform, platform it, just put it behind an age wall. You took that and suggested I said the complete opposite of they can't be platformed if YouTube wants to.
Pushing the boundaries of what's acceptable like this inevitably makes things worse for everyone else when stricter regulations are put in place.

It's odd to me that this has prompted such a vigorous debate. Not every site on the internet needs to have nudity available. That's one of the reasons I still visit gamefaqs.gamespot.com

You really have no self-awareness. The post you made didn't address my preceding post at all either. My repeat of my post was at least addressing how you lack nuance and how youtube isn't targeted at kids either.
None of my post said this either, but given your last post you quoted..... lol

No to hijack the conversation, but if you truly feel that way, do you feel the same about other apps and platforms such as Max, Showtime Anytime, Netflix, Prime, etc?

Because I can just as easily log onto Paramount+ and watch SpongeBob one minute, then Wolf of Wall Street the next.

And your counter would be "Well then set the age restrictions" which is exactly what you can do with YouTube.

And finally, these videos are all part of an algorithm. So you're not seeing them unless past viewing habits have lead you to them. Like I said before, my YouTube feed is filled with music videos (becasue I mainly use it to stream music) and wrestling interviews (because I subscribe to a few wrestler's channels).

OP is a genius. Having this debate is how you have your hornyposting thread. If OP had said it was hot, nice, sexy, etc would have been modded. Instead saying it gross genre needed to be banned allows OP to bring attention to hornyposting genre of Youtube.
Hey now.

Feel free to hijack, I entertained the other conversation way longer than I should have.

Answering your question, yes.

Wasn't aware they didn't have mature content blocked by an age consent wall already. An age consent wall isn't removing the content, it's just an added layer to deter underage users.

If YouTube wants to platform it, put it behind an age consent wall at least.
Youtube does have least some level of sensitive content age walling, though it's not applied to that many things. it's a prompt that says it contains suggestive content or whatever and asks if you're okay viewing it, and also requires you to be logged into an account to see it

edit: ok slightly misremembered what it says. but it is, without a doubt, an age gate

It's often used for topics like suicide rather than nudity. Plus a video age restricted doesn't appear in search and doesn't earn ad revenue so there's a while meta of talking about topics like suicide without triggering age restriction.

Ultimately youtube does a terrible job at separating this kind of content

To note, streaming services like Max can allow you to restrict access to r rated content. Plus they are paid services. Not a good comparsion to youtube.

In theory, so does YouTube via YouTube Kids.

But as has already been discussed, they aren't as vigilant about policing that.

They do still appear in search, it's how I found a video to take that screenshot. Wouldn't be surprised if they're search de-prioritized, though. They also do still earn ad revenue, but probably not as much because many advertisers do not like to appear near that sort of content.

I agree they don't do a very good job seperating it. In theory, the uploader is supposed to mark their video as 18+ when uploading, there's a little section in the upload form for it. But it's easy to miss by accident and also you're incentivized not to do it since it basically only has negatives for you as an uploader. They have some sort of system trying to catch videos that are not marked by the uploader but just a few searches or a bit of browsing youtube show that it's not very effective

Youtube is strict enough as is. Horror content is already neutered because of youtube's shitty monetization rules, and I know if youtube were to crack down on "low effort" see-through lingerie a lot of other, good channels would be hurt too.

So no.
