quick question (meta quest 2 vs 3)

Never had a vr headset before, just wanted to grab one to play Beat Saber, Half Life Alyx and a couple other games. Is the jump to the 3 worth the extra 400 dollars? I've heard that its more comfortable.

I only have the 3, but you need to have a PC able to play Alyx through Steam, it is not actually on the Quest store.

I haven't used the 2 but I enjoy the 3 a lot. Issue is the strap feels weird and the battery life is like, 3 - 4 hours tops.

The pc won't be a problem. I have a new computer I built in December.

If that's the case then I guess it depends on how often you plan on using it. There are a lot of games that got an upgrade for the 3 to make them look and perform better. If you want just something to play VR from time to time I would think the 2 is fine. The 3 also has the pass through which is neat so you can do augmented reality stuff.
