or suv instead of a car?
If I was a millionaire I think the largest car I would get would be something the size of a jeep or a Honda pilot. Id never want anything bigger than that.

I'm already waiting for a good deal on a newer Tundra 4x4. Wouldn't change much on the decision though. My current Tundra 4x4 is now over 20yrs old.

I drive a Camry 90% of the time unless I need to haul something.

I have a truck and I'm not sure I could go back. Maybe electric truck when those are more practical
Does the name Pavlov ring a bell?
I already own a truck. /shrug
Rage is a hell of an anesthetic.
No, for the rare occasions I have needed a truck I rented one. Otherwise our small two door hatchback serves my husband's and my needs well, and is easy to park in DC.

If you're not getting promoted, it's not because you're not good at your job. It's because you're good at ONLY your job.
Which one of those options is the smallest? I want that one.

No. I dont even think Im likely to get a car again. Maybe once I have kids. But a bike is more than adequate for my needs.

Mostly I just hire a car with a driver on the odd occasion that I need a car.
Whatever a midsize sedan is
You gonna do something or just stand there and bleed?
I already have a full size truck.

Honestly the price of gas doesn't impact me personally that much. I'm 10 miles of mostly highway driving one way from home to work. So I drive 20 miles round trip a day. That is 100 miles a week.

I fill up about every 3 weeks. A tank will cost currently about $75. If it was a $1 cheaper it would only be costing me about $23 less per tank. Considering I fill up once every 3 weeks that really doesn't impact me.

I would much rather keep all the advantages of having a truck. At 6'2" I prefer getting in and out of a truck rather than a car. Especially the older I get.

In winter my truck is a must. We get bad snow here many times. I like the longer wheel base and the weight for stability along with 4 wheel drive. Then you have the height for clearing drifts when you drive into them. It's a must have for winter driving.

Then you factor in the ability to haul stuff in the bed, and the ability to pull/tow trailers, boats, campers, that sort of thing.

I'm not trading all of that off to save $20 or $30 gas here and there every 3 weeks. I make plenty of money that the difference is paltry.

WOW that's like $450 more PER YEAR Damn what do you do?
Do trucks take 87? If so, the lower mileage is probably the same cost as paying for 93 gas for a smaller turbo car.

They had these selling at an auction a long time ago when I was in Phoenix. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/8/81f08ad3.jpg

That is a very minor difference for an entire year of comfort and a dependable vehicle to get me through the snow in the winter. It's hardly over a $1 a day. I'm not giving up all those advantages for $1 and some change a day.

No, trucks do nothing for me. I hate the way they look, and I don't ever need to haul anything. I only like sedans and their smaller brothern. Hatchbacks are my favorite style overall.

But they're like a van? Yeah same shape and everything but tiny van
It's not like I'm a blue collar worker that has a bunch of shit I need to haul every day. Literally no need for a truck

I'm already considering a small hybrid SUV. The RAV 4 gets better mileage than my Corolla.

No, I prefer small- or mid-sized cars. We have a small SUV, because my wife wanted one. I hesitated for a long time because I didn't see the point of buying such a big car.

Not really.

Though gas prices isn't a real issue for me, I drive a 2024 Honda HRV.

I couldn't justify paying almost $10,000 more for the CRV when it's just a little bigger and has a bigger engine.

Gas isn't actuay the main consideration. Pickup trucks are the modern luxury vehicles for some reason. The difference in the initial purchase price seems like it would dwarf any possible difference in fuel costs.

Actually, modern pickups are surprisingly efficient. I got better FE with a '14 Silverado than I did with my last two sedans.

Does she see better out of it? I've heard taller vehicles let you see further down the road, versus sitting on the ground in a mini car

The planet is not small enough for a couple of inches to make a significant difference. Eve if there weren't inevitably going to be a hill or some other obstruction before the curvature of the planet becomes a factor anyway.

I already drive a truck and cant really see myself going back to cars, trucks provide more utility for me.
Who run Bartertown?
I really dislike driving tall vehicles. I find sedans more comfortable and easier to get in and out of. And large front blind spots really bother me.

Trucks were meant to be cheapo beaters for doing work.

Instead they are now goofball luxury vehicles with tiny beds.

Back then you could buy a Buick family sedan and a farm truck with a summer job. Now we can only afford 1 vehicle and trucks are very nice. A basic Chevy rides better than a Mercedes Benz 9000

A truck doesn't need to ride better than a benz.

It needs to haul garbage from point A to point B for work.

On an empty road it doesnt make any difference. When theres traffic, you can see farther if your vehicle is tall compared to the average.
