Honestly this is why Fandom probably instituted these rules. To normalize the vibe and culture of this place a bit more, and get in on par with general society so that they can start onboarding new users from the social media crowd.
You're giving Fandom way too much credits here. We've seen what Fandom did with other sites. They simply want to sanitize GameFAQs so they can attract more ads partner; don't read too deep into it. There's a reason gamers start to move away from the main fandom.com
And what's with attracting social media crowd? GameFAQs is not the kind of social media sought by casual crowd nowadays. The guides and the Q&A are what's important, not the dying messageboards.
