Having now been exposed to Big Bang Theory reruns on TBS, I can safely say the writers at least had the occasional good line for Sheldon. The other characters do little for me, and it was dumb to give them wives and girlfriends, but there's about a line or two per episode that gets a sensible chuckle from me.

I've always said the hate was way overblown for that show. Like, everyone seemed to go on about the laugh track, but that's literally every single sitcom ever.

Almost kinda feels like it was just the generational shift of younger people no longer enjoying sitcoms on a fundamental level, and BBT was the sacrificial sheep because it was big at the time.

most scripted CBS comedies were garbage

if it takes them 10+ seconds to set up a punch line for a one-off joke that's not good comedy writing

I always enjoyed it, even as one of the nerd/geek stereotypes they used.

Not to yuk anyone's yum but that show just did nothing for me, it always felt like it was very cringe and never felt like it was particularly clever or funny. But hey what the hell do I know?

Never appealed to me, either, but my mother seemed to like it.

I haven't watched any sitcoms in ages; do comedy shows still have laugh tracks/live audience?

I enjoyed that they didnt lean into the, we are all friends, so we cant say bad shit about each other thing like maybe a Friends wouldve done. Leonard was a nasally bitch, and they let him know, and I like that, especially considering he was probably the shows protagonist

Nah, it was terrible then and terrible now.

Ironically Young Sheldon is a much better show.

The lazy Jewish jokes and Indian accent = funny jokes kind of turned me off but the early seasons were good. Got worse when they added girlfriends.
