At Lake Mead, unknown people were caught on film destroying some rock formations older than the human species. I will never understand why people do this.

On one hand, it's bad. On the other hand the lake itself was formed by damming up a canyon that ultimately destroyed far more geological and archeological sites, so let's at least keep some perspective.

Why did they even go there if they don't appreciate it. Hopefully they're caught and sentenced to hard labor where they can push rocks all day long.

Any image that is taken in a public space is open game.

They must have given to the images to the authorities.
Have they published it?

Those are really quite different situations.

One is for entertainment purposes, and profit.

The other has The Freedom of the Press.

They have The Right and frankly The Responsibility to do so.
TBF they don't indicate if the people who did this were ever convicted. But still.
