Dont think anyone should be happy about this tbhAgreed. It interferes with genuine discussion and does a great job of throttling one of the last bastions of forum culture in the name of profit motive. Politics are intrinsically intertwined with gaming. Ive been against any change to remove discussion about them on the website (besides banning general political threads outside of social/dedicated politics boards).

From the announcement post their primary concern is toxicity. CE is essentially being spared the hammer on political talks, as long as people retain some modicum of decorum. Any other social board should be fine since they're not related to politics.

Locking down this board is also a horrible decision. It is one of the most popular boards on the site, and did not have the problems that caused LUE to be locked down. Its disappointing to see the community Ive been a part of for over a decade get treated this way.
