AI image mods are gonna make dating apps impossible to tell how people are

Like you can now just take a bunch of super low effort bathroom selfies and then plug them into an AI image generator app and it will make it look like you're a classically good looking person out doing a bunch of outdoorsy interesting shit, and not like the cheetoh dust basement dweller you are.

I hadn't thought of this use case but just saw it advertised. Seems like a net loss for everyone imo.

Not really. Yes AI is fairly to use. Not everyone is going to rely on it, or have the desire to use it. And in the end, if the person is serious, they're going to have some explaining to do if they meet up in person.

Or be branded a complete liar before ever having the chance to show any good qualities they may have.

The caveat to that is that the people who are taking selfies while doing that stuff may not even enjoy doing it that much. It's just social media clout compared to people who just go out and enjoy it.

People lie on dating sites all the time. Heck, in a Sims 3 expansion you could lie about which traits your character has on one.
