I watched the first two eps. Pretty good, definitely worth sticking with it.
I'm curious how well the first ep onboards people not familiar with the series; both this and the Netflix Avatar are
really
abrupt and jarring with their time-jumps in the first ep, for instance. I'm gonna try and get my parents into this show (they love Walton Goggins), so I'll have to see how self-explanatory the show is to them.
The 2nd episode was considerably better. Couldn't have gotten a better actor than
Michael Rapaport
to be Knight Titus under the helmet.
The dark humor's pretty on-point so far. There's a few instances where it simply boils down to 'horrible violence happening on-screen while a charming Ink Spots song plays," but most of the jokes got at least a chuckle out of me, and at least half of the song choices were very fitting for the scene.
I know a lot of people were worried that Lucy's actress wouldn't be able to carry the show, but I think she does a good enough job of balancing pluck, competence, and wide-eyed naivety to serve as a decent focal point around which all the zany gory adventures can revolve.
