Is the ps2 version of Persona 4 still worth playing IYO?

I've only played the golden rerelease on vita, but I've heard some people really prefer the ps2 release but I'm not sure why. It sounds like golden has everything it had and more though, so I don't get it. :v Is it the 4:3 aspect ratio?
Chie has a different VA that some people liked better I think.
In simplicity, utility. Through utility, simplicity.
To me it's still worth playing. I much prefer Chie's OG English voice. It's so chill and soothing and it made her my favorite social link

Nah, Golden improved on it in many ways

Including the biggest change: it introduced best girl

for me, yeah. I love that ratio for games, and whenever a modern PC game has support for 1280x1024 monitors (what I use on my "gaming PC") its an instant favorite.
?
I think they might be remaking 4 and 2, according to some rumors.

I wouldn't be surprised after they just remade 3

Yeah the ps2 intro is peak ps2 jrpg style.
Also the fog effects in ps2 games just look so much better than anything that exists now. Idk how they did it.
maybe if you're a chie mega fan (better va in the og) and a marie mega hater. both of which you should be.

The only reason I'd have a hard time going back to PS2 Persona 4 is the lack of manual skill inheritance, but otherwise I can.

Well the ps2 or vanilla p4 is superior. The golden version does add some gameplay improvements and quality of life improvements but not worth it for the terrible character they added, thd worse (and less thematically relevant) intro song, and the padding. If you don't know about the minor gameplay improvements beforehand you certainly won't miss them.
Golden is the superior version imo, but the PS2 version is still a great game because P4 is a great game.

That was easily my biggest complaint back when I played it originally.

When there's only one race, and that's mankind, then we shall be free
Vanilla all the way
It all returns to nothing
It just keeps tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling down. (NGE)
golden is better in every way
golden is better even if marie is garbage

The PS2 has a slightly better atmosphere (Golden's fog effects are worse) and it can be argued Chie's and Teddie's English voice actors are better. Also, Shadow Teddie sounds way better than the generic deep voice he has in Golden.

Golden's gameplay improvements are really good though. I'd only play the PS2 version if you already played Golden and want to replay the game again.

I'd just emulate the vita of Golden.
I barely played Golden. I keep wanting to play it again. I got it on Steam awhile ago and got past Kanji's dungeon last I played iirc. As for Marie she wasn't bothering me at the time and I guess I liked her outfit. Plus her woe is me poems were fine. Maybe something happens later that makes her worse? I figure she ties into the main story more or why add her I guess.

Anyhow I thought the original version was real cool. Interesting reading about how the fog was better in the PS2 version nice observation, remembering ability. Some of the things like manual skill inheritance are taken for granted now and I sure would get a bit peeved and reroll several times. Then I just settle. Things like that are a massive waste of time, but did add a sort of life perspective. You can't always get what you want and it was ok. Now I am just going to start to ramble but I was close to buying Persona 4 Golden on my PS4 because it was 8 bucks one time but now I got P3 Reload on a sale so I guess I am just on that now. There was a time where I was switching between multiple Persona games and I had trouble which ones I had in what game lmaonade. *heh*

The only thing stopping Golden from being a 10/10 game is that it didn't replace Rise with a better character
Hey, everyone, what's going on in this topic? Oh.
not having manual skill inheritance can be aggravating. I think golden is just a better overall experience

The issue is the new dungeon in Golden is the worst dungeon in 3,4, and 5 because of its terrible game play mechanic gimmick.

Rise is the 2nd biggest simp in all of Persona and her navigation lines are really annoying and eye rolling, but she is a really good character. It would be hard to to replace her with another character that makes the game better.

I really dont understand the hate. By that point of the game you should have a squad of absolute monsters that steamroll everything.

I was dreading that dungeon, and was so confused when i sped through it. Theres not a chance its worse than Okumuras dungeon, hell even Kaneshiros dungeon from 5.

I like Risette! :D

A gimmick dungeon in Persona 4 Golden? Damn I should have spoiled myself on that by now.

Yeah I was freaking over powered in Royal 5 and it still massively sucked. OMG.

Its not even like its hard gameplay wise, its just so dull and has one of the worst arcs of the game.

Always such a struggle for me to get through that part of the game

The timer sucks though. If you don't wipe out all these workers bots in a couple turns in that final boss battle, just a unlucky miss or other reasons there is a whole batch of fully healed workers to step right back in. I feel the time limit could be more generous. I actually like the palace a lot tbf. Just the final confrontation blows.

But actually though, I want to skip the dialogue 90% of the time that she's on the screen. Why did they make her such a huge simp lmao
Hey, everyone, what's going on in this topic? Oh.
Some of the stuff Golden added was cool. Some of the stuff it added wasn't.

P4 is a fantastic game either way.
Looks like this gamer's paradise has turned into a gamer's hell...............................................
Yes, it's worth ,but you want better contents over original then you should go for Persona 4 Golden PS4.
I guess I'll bring it up again but I do prefer Chie's OG VA way more than the new one. When I was playing Golden I was starting to get more used to the new one but the OG is better still. It just feels more controlled. The new Chie VA has these squeaky moments that I felt were just off and didn't fit her character.
